Used 2004 Audi A6 4.2
Buying Guide for the Audi A6 4.2:
Audi’s motto with the A6 4.2 is this: enough is never enough.
So they gave the 4.2 a 300-horsepower engine, an interior
cabin with stocked luxury features galore and its own distinct
style.
It’s not at all surprising that Audi accords so much style
and power to the 4.2. This year, with the discontinuation
of the S6 Avant and RS 6 sedan, the 4.2 now assumes the title
as the top A6 model on the road.
Being the top A6 model is quite a bit of responsibility,
something the 4.2 seems ready to accept. On top of its style,
power and decadence, the A6 4.2 also features a comprehensive
safety package. Included in all 2004 models are front side
airbags, curtain side airbags, traction control, antilock
4-wheel disc brakes with brake assist and an antiskid system.
Under the Hood
The engine that the engineers at Audi place under the hood
of the 2004 A6 4.2 is an all-aluminum, 90-degree 4.2-liter
V8 model. It has five valves per cylinder and variable valve
intake timing for efficient combustion and power transfer.
What results is an ability to get 300 horsepower at 6200 rpm
and 295 lb-ft of torque at 3000 rpm.
Teamed with the brawny 4.2-liter V8 is Audi’s Tiptronic 5-speed
automatic transmission. It includes a manual shift mode, which
lets you take over the gears when the mood strikes.
Though more refined at heart than a pure roaster, the A6
in its 4.2 incarnation is still able to muster some pretty
good speeds. It goes from 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds, with a
top track speed of 130 mph.
Offered this year with the 4.2 is an optional Sport Package.
It equips the luxury car with sport suspension as well as
front sport seats, 255/40ZR17 tires and special alloy wheels.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The top-line A6 is filled to the brim with standard features.
From leather upholstery and a memory system covering the driver’s
seat, steering wheel, mirrors and temperature to an in-dash
6-disc CD changer, comfort is guaranteed.
An Infotainment Package is an optional group that includes
the OnStar telematics system, a Bose sound system and satellite
radio.
Another group is the Cold Weather Package. Perfect for winter
adventurers, it has heated front seats and steering wheel
and a ski sack. |
