Used 2004 Audi A8 L
Buying Guide for the Audi A8 L:
Audi shakes things up a little in 2004 with its flagship
sedan. The A8 L now comes in only one body length. It has
a 2.5-inch-longer wheelbase than the former L version. While
the majority of its exterior dimensions aren’t altered, its
curb weight increases 240 lbs and there are a few style changes.
Inside, there's 1.5 inches less front headroom, but about
an inch more rear legroom.
Standard all-wheel drive remains, giving the luxurious A8
L remarkable handling and even more importantly, safety. Audi
employs some cutting-edge technology with the all-aluminum
A8 L. Replacing conventional steel springs is an air suspension
system with four driver-selectable settings: ride-oriented
Comfort, self-adjusting Automatic, sporty Dynamic, and Lift
for deep snow or unpaved surfaces.
Under the Hood
There is no questioning the A8 L’s power. It uses a 4.2-liter
V8 engine that produces 330 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 317
lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. This strong, dependable engine
is quiet and smooth, and it is mated to a 6-speed automatic
transmission with manual-shift capability.
The road manners of the Audi A8 L are exemplary. With electronic
limited-slip front and rear differentials and the aforementioned
suspension system, it feels as though you are driving over
glass. In terms of safety, the A8 L has dual front airbags,
front and rear side airbags, curtain side airbags, front knee
airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and an antiskid system.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The Audi A8 L features an exterior design that is marked
by flowing, smooth surface and crisp corners. Though a luxury
sedan, it has more of a sports car geometry when closely examined.
Inside, nothing is left wanting. Leather upholstery, air
conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate controls, the
OnStar System (navigation, roadside assistance, emergency
services), a power tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering
wheel with radio controls, cruise control, a memory system
(driver seat, mirrors, steering wheel, climate controls),
a Bose AM/FM radio and 6-disc CD changer, a navigation system
and a trip computer are just some of the standards.
Available options include adaptive cruise control, massaging
front seats, front and rear-obstacle detections systems and
rear air conditioning.
All of this points to one thing: the 2004 Audi A8 L is one
fine automobile.
