2004 Buick Rendezvous Ultra Review:
The Rendezvous has just blasted itself into a new realm of
sports touring vehicles. With the introduction of the all-new
2004 Ultra model, the crossover SUV/wagon is sure to attract
even more customers—especially those who like high performance
to match comfort, toughness and safety.
In addition to having more power, standard all-wheel drive
and traction control, the 2004 Buick Ultra also looks different
than other Rendezvous models. While still a Rendezvous through-and-through,
it nonetheless proudly displays its individuality with confidence.
When you see its specs and standard features, you’ll know
why.
Under the Hood
As mentioned, GM's innovative Versatrak "on-demand"
all-wheel-drive system is standard with every 2004 Rendezvous
model. Also standard is a 3.6-liter variable valve timing
(VVT) V6 engine that cranks out 245 horsepower at 6000 rpm
and 235 lb-ft of torque at 3200 rpm. The engine's VVT design
allows for more complete combustion, contributing to improved
fuel economy and reduced emissions.
This smart engine is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Complimenting the all-wheel drive system is an independent
front and rear suspension and rear gas-pressure monotube shocks.
They give the Ultra precise cornering characteristics and
smoothness on all road surfaces.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Its style is bold, but it can obviously back it up. A monochromatic
exterior with color-keyed grille and jewel-like chrome trim
highlight the exterior. Inside, the Ultra is elegant and refined
with wood accents, a wood trimmed steering wheel and chrome
touches on the gauges and dials. Leather and neutral-colored
premium suede fabric seat inserts are also standard.
An AM/FM/CD player, coupled with high-fidelity XM Satellite
Radio, will keep the music going for hours and hours. With
100 coast-to-coast digital channels to choose from, lack of
selection won’t be a problem.
Customers can really go wild with the options list. A GPS
navigation system and a DVD system with 7-inch fold-down,
ceiling integrated monitor are just two of the enticing options
from the bunch.
