2004 Chrysler Concorde Review:
The impressive fleet of Concorde
models rolls into 2004 with a similar style as last year’s
lineup. There aren’t too many changes to this year’s collection,
save for a regrouping of options packages and a few other
minor additions, but then again, there wasn’t much to do.
Anytime you can offer consumers three distinct model trims
and three capable engines, you’ve bought yourself quite a
bit of time before the novelty wears off.
In short, there is quite a
variety from which to choose. The LX, LXi and Limited models
all have the same sleek outer construction and spacious interior.
Naturally, as you move up to the top-line Limited you’ll find
an increase in power under the hood and more premium appointments
on the inside.
Under the Hood
The first engine in the 2004
Concorde family is found within the entry-level LX model.
It is a 2.7-liter V6 with 200 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of
torque. LXi models feature a 3.5-liter V6 with 234 horsepower
and 241 lb-ft of torque. At the top of the charts is the Limited’s
engine, with the same dimensions as that found in the LXi
but with a rating of 250 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.
All Concordes are front-wheel
drive and have a 4-speed automatic transmission system. Concorde
blends fine handling, comfort and safety with a fully independent
suspension with MacPherson struts up front and a multilink
configuration with Chapman struts at the rear.
Standard Features, Options
Packages and Style
The full-size Concorde offers
plenty of room—enough for six, if need be. An Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (standard on LXi and Limited, available
on LX) provides a compass, outside temperature, trip computer
and HomeLink® to control garage door security systems and
outdoor lights. With LXi and Limited editions, lush leather
upholstery decks the seating areas, including a leather-wrapped
steering wheel with convenient radio controls.
Antilock brakes can be added
to LX and LXi models as stand-alone options (they are standard
on the Limited). Front side airbags are also available across
the lineup. LX models have a designated Quick Order Package,
while LXi has a Luxury Touring Group and the Limited a Premium
Discount Group. In other words, you can really add on to each
of the three 2004 Chrysler Concorde models.
