Used 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Buying Guide for the Chrysler Town & Country:

Merged with the now discontinued Voyager, the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country has a trim lineup that is just bulging at the seams. Occupying the less-expensive side of the group are the base, LX and eX models, shorter on premium equipment than the top-line Touring and Limited editions (covered separately), but lacking none of the essentials.

For the Town & Country minivan, that essential equipment is everything responsible for safety, durability and comfort. From the regular-length base model to the extended-length LX and eX models, all Town & Country minivans cover these three principles thoroughly.

There are three new optional audio systems available with the 2004 Town & Country, ranging from an AM/FM radio with in-dash 6-disc CD changer to an advanced six-disc CD/DVD changer.

Under the Hood

Base and LX models come with a 3.3-liter V6 engine with 180 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 210 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. It is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. All but the base model come with standard antilock brakes.

The engine under the eX model’s hood is a 3.8-liter V6. It lets out 215 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 245 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Traction control and a tire-pressure monitor are also standard with the eX trim.

For added safety, owners can opt for front side airbags. They join a safety package that includes the LATCH child seat system, dual front airbags, automatic transaxle brake-park interlock and available security alarm system with engine immobilizer.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

All 2004 Town & Country models seat seven. While the base regular length model has a total cargo volume of 142.3 cubic feet, extended length versions offer 167.9 cubic feet of space. Either way, there is generally plenty of room for both people and goods.

Naturally, as you move up the model line, the comfort level increases—but so too does the price. At a reasonable cost is the eX model, which sits in the middle of the pack and features such standard items as front and rear air conditioning with tri-zone manual climate controls, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, an 8-way power driver seat, a power liftgate and an AM/FM/cassette/CD player.

Options include a rear-seat video entertainment system, a navigation system, power-adjustable pedals and more.
