Used 2004 Dodge Intrepid

Buying Guide for the Dodge Intrepid:

The sleek, eye-catching design of the Dodge Intrepid has always set the full-size sedan apart on the road. Though it has cousins (Chrysler 300M and Concorde) that share a similar look, it is nonetheless unique in its own way. But this design is not merely for aesthetic purposes—Intrepid's stiff body and aerodynamic shape diminishes drag and allows Intrepid to cut through the wind quietly and efficiently.

The 2004 Dodge Intrepid is really last year’s model with a redesignation for the new year. Manufacturers hope to capitalize on Intrepid’s customer loyalty and a quick start out of the gates to achieve nice sales figures. And though the 2004 Intrepid doesn’t receive many changes from last year, it is not just a simple carbon copy.

Under the Hood

Any time three engines are offered for one sedan, you know customers are going to be happy. So it is with the Intrepid. Base SE models have a 2.7-liter V6 with 200 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 190 lb-ft of torque at 4850 rpm. The appointment-filled ES model comes with a 3.5-liter V6 that offers 234 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 241 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. At the top of the line in terms of power is the sporty SXT, which features the same-size engine as that found in the ES model, but with specs of 250 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 250 lb-ft of torque at 3900 rpm.

Needless to say, quite a bit of time went into crafting the levels of performance across the diverse Intrepid line. The transmission type chosen to best represent all three of these engines is an adaptive 4-speed automatic system that maximizes driver shift points.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

Manufacturers may have loaded the Intrepid full of power, but they didn’t forget about the other side of driving: comfort. To this end, they equipped all 2004 Intrepids with air conditioning, power steering, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats, a center console and power mirrors, windows and door locks.

The options list covers everything from safety to style. Antilock brakes and front side airbags can be added to any of the 2004 Intrepid models. A power sunroof is also available, as is an Infiniti AM/FM cassette player with in-dash 6-disc CD changer (ES and SXT models).
