2004 GMC Sierra Denali Review:
Taking the full-size pickup
truck to the next level is the Sierra Denali, a model that
boast excessive power, loads of standard features and an undeniable,
neck-jerking style. If you’re interested in a flashy, full-throttle
truck, you certainly could do worse than the 2004 GMC Sierra
Denali.
The Sierra is already tough,
strong, durable and safe. The Denali takes this comprehensive
package and the construction of a ½-ton extended cab model
and takes off.
As an extended cab, the Denali
has two rear-hinged back doors and a rear three-person bench
seat. It has been aptly described as a performance/luxury
vehicle. In other words, if you’re willing to pay a little,
you will be rewarded. So it is true: you do pay for what you
get.
Under the Hood
Plowing through mud, hauling
heavy loads, racing over city streets and cruising on the
highway—it’s all possible with the 2004 GMC Sierra Denali.
Doing the work is a 6.0-liter/ 364-cu. in V8 engine. Mated
to a smooth-shifting 4-speed automatic transmission, it can
produce a whopping 325 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 365 lb-ft
of torque at 4000 rpm.
The Denali is the only 1500
Sierra model to come with all-wheel drive. It also uses specially
formulated ride-control suspension to maintain an even balance
over all sorts of different terrain levels.
But the standard equipment
does not end there. Denalis also employ GM’s Quadrasteer 4-wheel
steering system. At low speeds, it turns the rear wheels opposite
the fronts for a tighter turning radius. At higher speeds,
it turns them in the same direction to aid stability.
Standard Features, Options
Packages and Style
One thing the Denali doesn’t
ignore is safety. A new right front passenger safety-belt
reminder lets passengers automatically know (via a chime and
indicator light) if their safety belt hasn't been fastened.
This system compliments the automatic passenger-sensing airbag
system.
Standard comfort features
abound with the Sierra Denali. Some of the perks included
are air conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate controls,
the OnStar system, heated front bucket seats, an AM/FM/CD
player with in-dash 6-disc changer and rear radio controls.
For options, there is a special
Z82 trailering package that gets the Denali ready to haul
heavy loads.
