Used 2004 Hyundai XG350

Buying Guide for the Hyundai XG350:

Many people would scoff at the idea that the XG350, Hyundai’s flagship sedan, would even come close to occupying the premium car segment. They think back to the (regrettably) early days for Hyundai, and their minds simply can’t bend around the concept.

Well, it’s their loss, because the XG350 is a sedan with excellent road manners, an entire array of comfort appointments and a price that can’t be beat for the quality of the package. And that’s just the beginning.

For 2004, the XG350 gets upgraded exterior styling. This includes both the front and rear ends, and it gives the sedan a mild infusion of added class and refinement. In addition, there’s a lighter-tone woodgrain interior trim.

Under the Hood

Being a premium model, it’s not surprising to find that the XG350’s engine is quiet yet powerful. It is a 3.5-liter dual-overhead-cam V6 model that easily gets off the blocks and continues to rev at high speeds. All totaled, the V6 pumps out 194 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 216 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm.

Mated to the smooth-running 3.5-liter V6 engine is a 5-speed automatic transmission. It features a Shiftronic manual-shift mode, which allows you to take control of shift points, though it still upshifts at a pre-programmed engine speeds.

Speed-sensitive steering is also standard. It automatically adjusts the give of the wheel depending on engine speed. Highway driving is light, while city driving is tighter.

The 2004 XG350 also receives an electronic traction control system and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). EBD apportions brake application front-and-rear for maximum stopping assistance.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The XG350 gets its near-luxury status for a number of reasons, but most noticeably in the sheer number of standard appointments. Even the base XG350 comes with power everything, automatic climate control, leather-faced seating surfaces and a 6-speaker CD stereo.

For safety, there’s dual front airbags and front side airbags. Fog lights and automatic headlights are also included.

The top-line L model adds a power tilt-and-slide moonroof, premium speakers and a 210-watt external amplifier, heat and memory for the front bucket seats and a leather-and-woodgrain steering wheel. There are also memory outside mirrors that tilt down when the reverse gear is selected.
