Used 2004 Infiniti FX
Buying Guide for the Infiniti FX:
Any time you have a crossover SUV-wagon from a premium manufacturer,
you’re bound to be in for a good thing. When it’s offered
by Infiniti, Nissan’s upscale division, you know it will have
at its base a solid foundation that virtually guarantees longevity.
The FX attempts to merge the best attributes of sedans and
sport utility vehicles. It debuted last year to critical acclaim,
offering room for five passengers and using a design derived
from the Infiniti G35 sedan.
Like last year, the 2004 FX offers an optional Technology
Package that is very appealing. It features a navigation system,
adaptive cruise control designed to maintain a set following
distance, a rear DVD entertainment system, a rearview TV camera
and a tire-pressure monitor. The package also includes an
"intelligent key" system with a small transmitter
that allows the driver to unlock and start the vehicle simply
by touch.
Under the Hood
FX35 models use a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a 5-speed
automatic transmission with a manual-shift mode. The FX35
will produce 280 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque
at 4800 rpm.
Uplevel FX45 are more equipped to race around like adolescents.
They are fitted with special sport suspension and a 4.5-liter
V8 engine. It allows the crossover vehicle to generate 315
horsepower at 6400 rpm and 329 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.
All-wheel drive is standard with the FX45, and it can be
had with the FX35, which also offers a rear-wheel drive configuration.
Both models are constructed with independent strut front suspension
and multi-link rear suspension.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Safety is paramount to virtually everyone, and the 2004 Infiniti
FX certainly doesn’t overlook that. Every model comes with
traction control, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes with brake
assist, dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain side
airbags, an antiskid system, front and rear seat active head
restraints and xenon headlights.
While the FX35 is nice, the FX45 has quite a few feature
upgrades that make the ride as comfortable as you can imagine.
Some of the items responsible for this are leather upholstery,
heated front seats with power lumbar adjustment, a memory
system (driver seat, mirrors, steering wheel) and heated power
mirrors.
Many of the aforementioned features are optional with the
FX35. Roof rails and a trailer hitch are optional for both.
