2004 Infiniti G35 Sedan Review:
The Infiniti G35 is offered in both coupe and sedan forms.
The latter is the four-door version, offering more cargo volume
and more interior space for its five passengers. Families
shopping for an upscale luxury sedan should take note of this
last point.
All fans of the G35 should take note of one of the main changes
to the 2004 model—the introduction of an all-new G35 sedan
with all-wheel drive. This brand-new model comes as a sedan
with a leather interior, adding the functional ability of
an AWD system to the mix of premium appointments.
Compared to the coupe, the G35 sedan gets quite a few more
upgrades for 2004. The base model loses last year’s 16-inch
wheels and moves into the 17-inchers shared by other models.
In addition, sedans with leather now have heated front seats.
Under the Hood
2004 Infiniti G35 sedans come with one powerful engine. It
is a 3.5-liter V6 with such features as variable valve timing,
a high airflow intake and low-friction pistons, cams and crankshaft.
The result of this smooth running is 260 horsepower at 6000
rpm and 260 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm.
Two transmission types are offered with the 3.5-liter V6:
a 5-speed automatic with manual-shift capability and a 6-speed
manual setup with a short throw shifter.
G35 sedans ride on an aluminum multi-link suspension system.
Aluminum also finds its way on the hood, and as the primary
material of the engine.
The new all-wheel drive G35 sedan is designed for rough weather
climates. It has a Snow Mode that allows the driver to lock
in a 50/50 front/rear torque split.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The manufacturers at Infiniti have a habit of equipping their
models with a variety of safety features ranging from crumple
zones to quick-acting brakes. For 2004, they give each and
every G35 sedan front side airbags, head-protecting curtain
side airbags and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes.
Sedan models with leather take the base model, which includes
air conditioning with automatic climate control and an in-dash
6-disc changer, and add an 8-way power driver seat, a 4-way
power passenger seat and steering-wheel radio controls.
Furthermore, leather sedans can be upgraded with wood interior
trim, a sunroof and reclining rear seatbacks.
