2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Review:
This is probably not what you think of when you think Sentra.
The 2004 SE-R Spec V is a model that ups the ante in the small
car class. It combines the tested, ridiculously dependable
engineering of the Sentra stock with improved power, handling
and suspension for a sports car feel.
The ultra-aggressive Sentra SE-R Spec V not only moves differently
than other Sentras, it also looks different. It has an exclusive
interior and exterior trim, and it maintains the roadster
atmosphere with special sports car seats.
Under the Hood
The fastest Sentra of them all, the SE-R Spec V utilizes
a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower at 6000
rpm and 180 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The engine is mated
to a 6-speed manual transmission, which features short throws
and double-cone synchros for nearly seamless shifting.
Spec V’s helical limited-slip differential directs the power
directly to the road. This enhances tire grip, translating
into improved handling and quicker starts
Though the standard 4-wheel disc brake setup on the 2004
SE-R Spec V is quite capable, there is also an optional Brembo
brake configuration available. It uses 12" rotors paired
with four-piston calipers up front and nearly 11" rotors
in the rear, all cooled by a unique Brembo air management
system.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The 2004 SE-R Spec V is a four-door model like all Sentras.
But it definitely looks different than the rest of the line.
Its six-spoke, 17-inch wheels are matched with performance-enhancing
P215/45ZR17 tires, both functional and stylish at once.
Inside the SE-R Spec V, all the clues are there to the driving
experience that awaits you. With a black dash, a sport-gripped
leather-wrapped steering, a unique shift knob and titanium-tinted
stitching, the emphasis on performance is undeniable.
Like the regular SE-R, the SE-R Spec V offers an optional
Audio Fanatic Package. If you want an audio experience that
matches the type of performance you’re going to get out of
the rest of the car, it’s a good thing to add. It includes
a Rockford Fosgate sound system, a partial folding rear seat
and a car alarm.
The 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V: raising the bar in the
Sentra family.
