Used 2004 Nissan Titan
Buying Guide for the Nissan Titan:
Nissan’s newest model is a full-size pickup truck that is
simply bursting with features never seen before in a vehicle
of its kind. Add to that rugged power, and you’ve got a pickup
that is set to announce a new era in the segment.
The Titan is offered in crew cab and extended cab configurations,
which Nissan calls the King Cab. The King Cab uses a revolutionary
door system that allows the rear doors to swing open to a
nearly flat 168°. It makes parking in tight places a snap.
Built at a new plant in Mississippi, the Titan shares its
chassis and powertrain with Nissan's new Pathfinder Armada
SUV. Later in 2004, Nissan says a locking rear differential
and a power-retracting rear window will be added.
Under the Hood
Why build a next-generation full-size pickup truck if you’re
not going to give it an abundance of power? The people at
Nissan must have been asking themselves this very question.
So they gave the new Titan a big, bad 5.6-liter double-overhead-cam
V8 engine. Mated to a smooth 5-speed automatic transaxle,
it gives the Titan a whopping 305 horsepower at 4900 rpm and
379 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm.
Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations are available.
Titan’s off-road capability comes from its shift-on-the-fly
4WD, which lets you shift between 2WD and 4WD at the switch
of a dial at speeds up to 60 mph.
You wanna tow? A Big Tow Package increases towing capacity
to the maximum 9500 lbs. on the King Cab (9400 lbs. on the
crew cab). It also includes Vehicle Dynamic Control, a lower
final gear ratio (3.36), a heavy-duty battery, extendable
tow mirrors (with a wide-angle mirror), automatic transmission
temperature gauge, a Class IV receiver hitch, an additional
7-pin wiring harness and trailer brake controller pre-wiring
under the dash.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Some of the Titan’s other segment-first features include
a locking storage compartment in the left rear fender, a factory
spray-in bedliner, adjustable cargo-bed tie-downs and a fold-flat
front passenger seat.
The spray-in bedliner is a useful pickup truck first. It
helps protect the bed with a non-skid surface and adheres
directly to the bed to help prevent warping and rusting.
The options for 2004 include upgraded sound systems, a rear-seat
entertainment system, a bed extender, a power sunroof and
much, much more.
