Used 2004 Subaru Impreza Wagon
Buying Guide for the Subaru Impreza Wagon:
Once again, Subaru returns with its formidable Impreza lineup.
Offered in an array of model trims and two body styles (Impreza
sedan covered in a separate review), the 2004 Impreza is a
vehicle that certainly speaks to one of the most appealing
aspects of good engineering: versatility.
Safety and handling are two of the other accentuated features
on the 2004 Impreza wagon. It is larger than the sedan, but
handles just as well. Roomy enough for driving the entire
family and rugged enough to take them off the beaten path,
the Impreza wagon is a good vehicle for adventurous, active
people.
Under the Hood
It becomes repetitive when speaking about Subaru models,
and it crops up yet again with the 2004 Impreza wagon: standard
all-wheel drive. In conjunction with safety components and
the Impreza’s suspension system, all-wheel drive delivers
stability and security in full effect.
TS and Outback Sport models are fitted with a 2.5-liter,
4-cylinder engine with 165 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.
Up-level WRX models feature a 2.0-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder
engine with 227 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque. Both engines
are mated to either 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed
manual.
The 2004 Impreza wagon’s suspension is a fully independent
one with coil springs and struts. The front features lower
L-arms with liquid-filled rear bushings and a stabilizer bar,
while in the rear are parallel links and a stabilizer bar.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The Impreza wagon is designed to offer a large amount of
space for transporting both goods and people. There is a total
of 61.6 cubic feet of storage space to work with. In addition,
there is a sub-floor storage compartment for increased security
for the important things you need to move.
Entry-level TS models still come with standard air conditioning,
a split folding rear seat, power mirrors, windows and door
locks, an AM/FM/CD player, visor mirrors, a rear defogger
and an intermittent rear/wiper washer. Sporty WRX models add
a rear spoiler, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an AM/FM/cassette
player with in-dash 6-disc CD changer.
A trailer hitch is one option among many for 2004. It gives
the already-versatile Impreza wagon even more ability.
