2005 Used Buick Rendezvous Buying Guide
The 2005 Rendezvous is Buick’s response to the new line of vehicles taking over the markets today. Fuel-usage sensitivity among other considerations, from those who don’t wish to sacrifice performance in their active lives, has created the SUV-Crossover class populated by vehicles like the Porsche Cayenne, the Pontiac Aztec, the Toyota Matrix and the Subaru Forester.
Smaller than their full-size truck-based SUV entry, the Buick Rainier, the 2005 Buick Rendezvous nonetheless has massive storage and carrying capacity, such as being four inches longer than the Aztec, to allow third row seating. With the Ultra model, introduced last year, this crossover SUV/wagon is sure to attract even more customers with once again a hot combination of comfort, toughness and safety.
Under the Hood
The 2005 Buick Rendezvous has a couple of powertrain profile options. Buyers can choose an overhead valve 3.4-litre V6 with 185 hp at 5200 rpm and 210 lb-feet of torque at 4000 rpm, not too shabby. Alternatively, they can drive off with the or the Ultra’s 3.6-liter variable valve timing (VVT) dohc V6 engine that cranks out 242 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 232 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm.
GM's innovative Versatrak "on-demand" all-wheel-drive system is available with all models but unlike the 2004, the 2005 Rendezvous Ultra can be had with a more fuel-conscious front-wheel drive. Either way, the Ultra package’s VVT engine design allows for more complete combustion, contributing to improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
4-speed automatic transmission with both engines equates to from 18 to 27 mpg (city/hwy). Fog lights, roof rails and 215/70R16 tires are all standard features from base on up.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The Buick Rendezvous has excellent standards and options, regardless of the package you choose, and you can enhance safety, performance, styling, comfort and / or entertainment. Customers can really go wild with the options list. A GPS navigation system and a DVD system with 7-inch fold-down, ceiling integrated monitor are just two of the enticing options from the bunch.
The Ultra has some bold with a monochromatic exterior, color-keyed grille and jewel-like chrome trim highlights. Inside, the Ultra is elegant and refined with wood accents, a wood trimmed steering wheel and chrome touches on the gauges and dials. Leather and neutral-colored premium suede fabric seat inserts are also standard. An AM/FM/CD player, coupled with high-fidelity XM Satellite Radio, will keep the music going for hours and hours. With 100 coast-to-coast digital channels to choose from, lack of selection won’t be a problem.
