2005 Used Chevrolet Suburban Three Quarter Ton Buying Guide
The 2005 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 series is bigger and stronger than the smaller ½-ton 1500, and it doesn’t mind going that extra yard to please its owners. Perhaps that’s why the Suburban has one of the highest loyalty rates in the industry—once you get one, there’s no turning back.
Big enough to sit nine passengers and powerful enough to carry a full load and then have some juice left over to tow a boat, the Suburban is nothing if not highly functional. Yet another reason why people keep coming back.
For 2005, Suburban’s tire pressure monitoring system has been revised to identify the specific tire and location, replacing the general warning system. In addition, two new exterior colors are available: Sandstone Metallic and Bermuda Blue Metallic.
Under the Hood
The 2005 ¾-ton Suburban uses a 6.0-literVortec V8 engine. It is mated to a 4-speed electronic automatic transmission and can produce 325 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The advanced Quadrasteer system is offered with models with the 6.0-liter V8. It turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction as the front wheels at low speeds.
The Suburban comes in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive configurations. An optional 8.1-liter Vortec V8 engine is offered this year as well. It can generate 320 horsepower at 4200 rpm and 445 lb-ft of torque at 3200 rpm.
For 2005, an engine oil cooler is now included and only available with ¾-ton models equipped with the Vortec 8.1-liter V8 engine, while a transmission oil cooler is offered as well.

In addition, there’s an available power-adjustable camper mirror that can be extended to a vehicle width of as much as 106 inches.
