2005 Used Chevrolet Venture Buying Guide
With the introduction of the crossover Uplander, the makers at Chevrolet have decided that the Venture is now no longer relevant. As such, they are offering the minivan only as an extended-length version for 2005. Also dropped this year are all-wheel drive models.
Though it’s the Venture’s last year, it will not be the last year of life for this respected minivan. That’s because these vehicles are known to last a long, long time.
The 2005 lineup consists of three models: Plus, LS and LT. There are new colors this year, as well as new 16-inch chromed aluminum wheels.
Under the Hood
The Venture continues to be powered by a 3.4-liter V6 engine that produces 185 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 210 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Coupled to this is GM’s proven Hydra-Matic 4T65-E electronically controlled 4-speed automatic overdrive transaxle.
Though 2005 is the swan song, GM still provides a number of new features to the 2005 Venture. New to the lineup is a Sport Touring Package for the Venture LS model, which adds the new 16-inch chromed aluminum wheels on P225/60R16 touring tires, a slightly firmer FE4 touring suspension, automatic suspension leveling control and a convenient on-board inflator kit that can be used for a variety of recreational equipment.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Interior versatility and spaciousness are readily apparent with the extended-length Venture offered this year. With dual sliding side doors, it is easy for passengers to get in and out. Seating is for up to eight passengers. With a stowable third-row seat and flat-folding captain's chairs, Venture has up to 140.7 cubic feet of cargo space, and enough room to stack 4-foot by 8-foot panels with the liftgate closed.
The entry level Plus model starts things off with the barest necessities, and then some. Standard features include front air conditioning, power steering, cruise control, cloth upholstery, a center console, power mirrors, front windows and door locks and an AM/FM radio.
With the top-line LT model, you get quite a jump in the comfort level. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system, air conditioning with rear controls, a 6-way power driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering-wheel with radio controls, rear radio controls, a trip computer, a compass and an outside-temperature indicator all help to make long trips enjoyable.
