2005 Chrysler Town & Country Touring | Review | Buying Guide
The 2005 Chrysler Town & Country Touring and Limited models lineup of minivans are at the top of this family with a big powerful V8 engine, plenty of standards and, new this year, stowable 2 nd and 3 rd-row seats.
The Town & Country is the upscale version of the Dodge Caravan with plenty of premium comfort and convenience features: power up and down liftgate, removable powered center console, a power sliding door obstacle detection system, curtain-side airbags and rear-obstacle protection.
Under the Hood
Both the Touring model and the top-line Limited model house a 3.8-liter V6 engine. It generates 215 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 245 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Handling the shift points is a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Traction control and a tire-pressure monitor are standard with both models, as are antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, dual front airbags and automatic-off headlights. The 2005 Town & Country Limited now has standard curtain-side airbags as well, optional for the Touring edition.
Other performance features include a roof rack, 16-inch tires while the Limited adds fog lights and chrome alloy wheels.
The Limited model has standard front side airbags, fog lights and load-leveling height-control suspension. This gives the minivan a smooth ride over many different road conditions, regardless of the load.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Interior amenities are generous with both these models but top out with the Limited.
This luxury vehicle is equipped with tri-zone automatic climate controls (including rear controls), leather upholstery, heated, multi-way powered front seats, power-adjustable pedals, a memory system (driver seat, mirrors, pedals, radio), navigation system, standard Infinity AM/FM radio w/in-dash 6-disc CD/DVD changer, removable center console and automatic day/night driver-side and rearview mirrors
Naturally, with the Chrysler stable to pick from, the options are many, coming in groups or as stand-alone items. Some of the stand-alones include a rear-seat video entertainment system, a power sunroof, satellite radio or UConnect, a hands-free cellular phone system.
