2005 Used Dodge Stratus Buying Guide
The lineup for the Stratus sedan gets a little more streamlined, as Dodge attempts to offer a bold alternative to the midsize segment. The group now includes an SXT and an R/T model.
With the sedan, you get a smooth, comfortable ride with plenty of power for easy highway merging. Five passengers fit easily inside the Stratus sedan’s confines, making it a nice option for new families.
Other than the lineup shuffling, there aren’t many adjustments to this year’s Stratus. New exterior color options for 2005 include Linen Gold Pearl Coat, Magnesium Pearl Coat and Midnight Blue Pearl Coat. Available colors are Inferno Red Pearl Coat, Satin Jade Pearl Coat, Graphite Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Brilliant Black Pearl Coat and Stone White.
Under the Hood
The front-wheel drive Stratus sedan has two engines. The SXT is fitted with a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder model with 150 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 167 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. It comes with 4-speed automatic transmission.
The R/T moves the Stratus into the V6 performance realm. The engine under its hood is a 2.7-liter V6 with 200 horsepower at 5900 rpm and 192 lb-ft of torque at 4300 rpm.
The R/T offers customers a choice between 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed automatic. It also steps it up a notch with 4-wheel antilock brakes and performance suspension.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Standard features on the 2005 Dodge Stratus SXT include air conditioning, a tilt-steering column, power windows, mirrors and door locks, front and rear floormats, remote keyless entry, speed control, power front disc/rear drum brakes, 16-inch Split five-spoke Sparkle Silver aluminum wheels and an AM/FM stereo radio with a single-disc CD player.
For 2005, Dodge Stratus SXT will offer a new special Sport Appearance package that will take on many of the design cues of the R/T. This includes 16-inch chrome clad wheels, rear spoiler, deck lid fog lamps and sporty Camelot instrument panel bezels.
Optional features include low-speed traction control, a power sunroof, a compass/temperature display, an 8-way power driver’s seat, an AM/FM stereo radio with cassette/CD player, an automatic-dimming rearview mirror and a premium headliner that includes illuminated visor mirrors, rear grab handles and front map lamp.
