2005 Used Honda Civic Si Buying Guide

The Civic is a wildly popular compact car that is offered in an array of body styles and configurations. The result is a set of drivers that comprise what is dubbed as the “Civic Nation.” All are generally satisfied, and all don’t have to fill up their tanks every hour.

The boldest of the entire lot are undoubtedly those people driving the Civic Si around. The Si is a sporty two-door hatchback with a speedy engine and aggressive styling. It’s not surprising then that their drivers are a little on the extreme side as well.

When you see a tuned-out Civic with tinted windows, a fat exhaust, booming bass notes thundering out and other extreme add-ons, the basic package underneath is usually the Civic Si hatchback. So if that’s your thing, go ahead and buy an Si. Like other Civics, it’s a great value for your dollar.

Under the Hood

All 2005 Honda Civics use an inline 4-cylinder engine, but there are a variety of different setups offered. Starting with a hybrid version and moving up to the peppy I4 under the Si’s hood, Honda shows what precision engineering can produce.

The I4 that the 2005 Civic Si uses is a 2.0-liter dual-overhead cam model. It churns out an impressive 160 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 132 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. The sole transmission available for 2005 is a 5-speed manual setup. You are given the privilege of getting the Si up to speed.

The Si has great handling, in part due to its power steering and sport suspension setup. Quick and nimble are two words that accurately describe what you’ll feel behind the wheel. For gas mileage, the Si is definitely a Civic, getting 26/31 mpg (city/highway).

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The 2004 Civic Si received numerous upgrades, including standard 16-inch alloy wheels, new front and rear styling enhancements and interior upgrades. All those features are retained this year, though not much is added.

Standard features this year include a rear spoiler, cruise control, a power sunroof, a CD player, air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver seat, power mirrors, windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, a tachometer, map lights, floormats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a cargo cover and a rear wiper/washer.
