| 2012 Chrysler 300 Highlights: |
In a unique field with a shrinking number of competitors, the Chrysler 300 continues to hold its own as the brash and outspoken choice for those looking for an American full-sized sedan. The 2012 300 sports several improvements for 2012, despite last year’s complete revamp. These improvements include a new transmission that’s available for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models. The styling is much sleeker and more buttoned down than the first-generation model, and the interior boasts excellent design and materials.
For the standard 300, Chrysler offers the 3.6-liter 6-cylinder engine. With 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque on tap, there won’t be any complaints about this engine being underpowered. The standard 3.6-liter engine also offers excellent fuel economy in a vehicle of its class, delivering an EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined. The 5.7-liter 8-cylinder engine delivers a tremendous 363 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. EPA figures for this engine stand at a combined 25 mpg and 23 mpg for all-wheel drive equipped models. The 6-cylinder 300 uses a new 8-speed automatic transmission, while the 8-cylinder makes do with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The ride quality is as impressive as can be in a full-sized American sedan. But a smooth ride isn’t the suspension’s only priority in the 2012 Chrysler 300. The multi-link suspension performs admirably in spirited driving, keeping the big sedan poised and surefooted at speed. Standard traction and stability control help keep the 300 planted on the asphalt in slippery and icy road conditions. The four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes help bring the action to a smooth close when the time comes.
With a base price of roughly $27,000, the Chrysler 300 is relatively affordable for the level of luxury and performance you’d get. The top-level S trim, equipped with the 5.7-liter engine, starts at around $39,000.

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost of a New 2012 Chrysler 300:
- Example: Base dealer Invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of Options + Destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost. (Dealer Cost Example)
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost (calculated above) + Taxes/Licensing Fees - Rebate/Incentive = True Cost (You can get the rebates, incentives & invoice options pricing at Edmunds.)
