| 2012 Dodge Challenger Highlights: |
The 2012 Dodge Challenger is more than just a reborn muscle car, it's also a viable option for daily traveling. Originally brought back to the market in 2008, the Dodge Challenger continues to improve every year as new features are introduced and strengthened.
Dodge offers a choice of three different engines including a 3.6L V6 flex-fuel for the SXT, 5.7L V8 for the R/T or 6.4L V8 for the SRT8 392 model. The different trims correspond to the available engines. The SXT comes with 305 hp, while the R/T boasts a bit more at 376 and the top-end SRT8 392 maxes out with 470 horsepower. The SXT model comes with an automatic transmission, while the R/T and SRT8 392 models are available with either an automatic or manual option. Fuel mileage for the base model ranges from 18 mpg in the city to 27 mpg on the highway. The R/T decreases in fuel efficiency with its 5.5 second 0 to 60 time, getting an average of 19 mpg. The least fuel efficient model, the SRT8 392, only gets 16 mpg combined, but shows its power with an astounding 0 to 60 time of 4.5 seconds.
Handling is to be expected from a muscle car. All models come standard with antilock disc brakes, which vary in specifications depending on the package and options selected, airbags and stability and traction control. The 2012 Challenger has fierce competition with other popular muscle cars also fighting for their space on the market with sleek looks and handling power.
The price ranges vary from a manufacturer's selected retail price of $24,995 to an MSRP of $43,995 for the SRT8 392 model. The original manufacturer warranty is for 36 months or 36,000 miles, while it includes a powertrain warranty for 60 months or 100,000 miles.

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost of a New 2012 Dodge Challenger:
- Example: Base dealer Invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of Options + Destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost. (Dealer Cost Example)
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost (calculated above) + Taxes/Licensing Fees - Rebate/Incentive = True Cost (You can get the rebates, incentives & invoice options pricing at Edmunds.)
