2012 Ford Fusion Highlights:

The 2012 Ford Fusion is a midsize sedan ideal for a primary family vehicle. While Ford has not made any significant or jaw-dropping changes to the design, it does hold its own weight when compared to other vehicles in the class.

The engines that are available for the Ford Fusion vary based on the trim. The models primarily include the 2.5L 4-cylinder with 175 horsepower, while a 3.0-liter V6 that has 240 horsepower that also includes the option for all-wheel drive is an option with some models. The sport edition has the most powerful engine, with a whopping 263 horsepower and 3.5-liter capacity. Ford's hybrid attempt has the lowest hp of the engines, with only 156, but is combined with an electric motor to increase the overall to 191.

Gas mileage for the Ford Fusion is average for a vehicle in its class. It gets from a low of 17 mpg in the city for the AWD models to 41 mpg in the city for the hybrid, and from 24 mpg on the highway for the base model and 36 mpg on the highway for the hybrid version.

The 2012 Fusion is a very engaging sedan to drive as it gives extra control over the body as it rides around even the sharpest corners. The sport model is made to be more sportslike with its custom sport-tuned suspension, and the hydraulic power steering is more responsive than many other vehicles. The price of the Fusion varies from a low of $20,000 for the S model, up to $28,700 for the hybrid option.

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost of a New 2012 Ford Fusion:

  • Example: Base dealer Invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of Options + Destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost. (Dealer Cost Example)
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost (calculated above) + Taxes/Licensing Fees - Rebate/Incentive = True Cost (You can get the rebates, incentives & invoice options pricing at Edmunds.)
