| 2012 Ford Mustang Highlights: |
After major changes were made to the 2011 Ford Mustang, consumers expected few changes to the 2012 Ford Mustang and were pleasantly surprised to find that not to be the case when the Ford introduced the 2012 Mustang. The 2012 Ford Mustang comes in five models: the V6, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium and the Boss 302, including a coupe and a convertible model; the 302 is only offered as a coupe.
The V6 models come standard with a 3.7-liter V-6, 305 horsepower engine. The GT models both come standard with 5.0-liter V-8, 412 horsepower engine. The 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is equipped with a 5.0-liter V-8, 444 horsepower engine. The V6 models, which are the least equipped of all five Ford Mustang models, have the best fuel efficiency at 19 mpg city and 29 mpg highway driving. The GT and Boss 302 models get 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway driving. The V6 and GT models come with either a standard or manual transmission. The Boss 302 is available only with a manual transmission.
When loaded with the performance package the Ford Mustang boasts speeds from zero to 60 in 5.6 seconds with the 3.31 gear ratios. The same package with the upgraded 3.73 gear ratios goes from zero to 60 in 4.8 seconds. One outstanding benefit for this fast sports car is the MyKey feature, which allows parents to limit the speed and radio volume level when their teen drivers are behind the wheel. Powerful braking systems mean the V6 stops from 60 mph in 103 feet; the V8 did the same in 109 feet.
The price range from the base model to the most elite model Mustang is $22,000 to $40,000. A basic 3 year 36,000 mile warranty is available. Additionally, a 5 year 60,000 mile drivetrain or roadside warranty is available.

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost of a New 2012 Ford Mustang:
- Example: Base dealer Invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of Options + Destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost. (Dealer Cost Example)
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost (calculated above) + Taxes/Licensing Fees - Rebate/Incentive = True Cost (You can get the rebates, incentives & invoice options pricing at Edmunds.)
