2012 Honda Pilot Highlights:

The 2012 Honda Pilot is an SUV that gets decent gas mileage and that can hold eight people and has room for cargo. However, it only offers a V6 and does not have stellar off-road performance.

In 2012, the Pilot changed up its looks to be more stylish. The Pilot does not offer many of the more modern features other SUVs in its class boast, but it does offer reliable transportation. Its four-wheel-drive option makes driving in the snow easier, and it can handle heavier jobs than a minivan.

The 2012 Honda Pilot has more rounded edges than previous versions and comes with more trim. The Pilot offers plenty of leg room in all three rows, but its cargo space is limited. It does have a sub-floor cargo bin, which can help free up some leg room when you need to haul equipment, luggage or perhaps groceries. It rides smooth and straight, although the steering can feel a bit heavy. It is quiet, minimizing outside road noise.

Some standard features include a remote entry system, tilt, telescopic steering wheel, 17-inch wheels, power windows, automatic headlights and front/rear air conditioning. The 2012 Pilot has an auxiliary input jack and a six-speaker audio system with a subwoofer. It also offers heated side mirrors in the EX, EX-L and Touring versions, as well as audio controls on the steering wheel.

Variable Cylinder Management technology on the Honda Pilot provides some extra horsepower, torque and fuel efficiency. It has a 3.5-liter V-6 that puts out 250 horsepower at 5,700 rpm. Its city fuel economy is 18 mpg and 25 on the highway in the 2 wheel-drive version. The all-wheel-drive version gets 17 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway. Models start just over $29,000 and can go as high as almost $42,000.

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost of a New 2012 Honda Pilot:

  • Example: Base dealer Invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of Options + Destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost. (Dealer Cost Example)
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost (calculated above) + Taxes/Licensing Fees - Rebate/Incentive = True Cost (You can get the rebates, incentives & invoice options pricing at Edmunds.)
