| 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Highlights: |
The recently redesigned 2012 Volkswagen Beetle boasts a sleeker roof profile and longer body while keeping the classic lines of its iconic roots. Don't think the exterior got all the attention, the interior got a major technology overhaul itself. There are plenty of features to choose from; Bluetooth connectivity, panoramic moon roof, keyless entry, push-button start, steering wheel with radio control, leather seats, and borrowing from Audi, LED daytime running lights. This is a two door hatchback with an emphasis on style and luxury.
The 2012 Beetle comes standard with a five speed manual transmission with a 2.5-liter five cylinder engine but there is a six speed manual transmission with a 2.0 turbo four cylinder engine upgrade option, producing 200 horsepower, for those who want a sportier ride. Both trim models have automatic transmission options as well. If gas mileage is a concern, have no worries, the 2012 model ranks in the top 10 in its class for fuel efficiency.
Both trim models have integrated stabilizer bars which allow for adept handling, but driving experience will certainly vary depending on trim model. The standard model has 17 inch alloy wheels which absorb more road imperfections for a more comfortable ride. The turbo model upgrades the wheels to 18 inches, adds on a rear spoiler and allows for faster acceleration and easier highway merges. All models are front wheel drive. As with all Volkswagen vehicles, the safety features are aplenty. All Volkswagen Beetles come standard with anti-lock brakes, front and side airbags and electronic stability control.
Prices for the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle start at just under $20,000 for the base model and just under $25,000 for the turbo option. Each model comes with a three year/36,000 mile limited warranty which includes Volkswagen's No-Charge Scheduled Carefree Maintenance plan.

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost of a New 2012 Volkswagen Beetle:
- Example: Base dealer Invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of Options + Destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost. (Dealer Cost Example)
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost (calculated above) + Taxes/Licensing Fees - Rebate/Incentive = True Cost (You can get the rebates, incentives & invoice options pricing at Edmunds.)
