The exciting new 2001 Ford Escape Sport Utility is offered in four rugged models, Escape XLS, Escape SLT, Escape XLS 4WD, and the XLT 4WD.

Each four-door vehicle has a seating capacity of five passengers, and the rear seat conveniently folds down to increase luggage space. Under the hood, each Escape features a four-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower and five speed manual transmission (automatic transmission available as a package).

Safety standards include driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, and both front and rear head restraints. Side impact air bags can be added. A rear wiper keeps the back window clear for better overall visibility for the driver, and the vehicle is equipped with all-season SBR tires. For the protection of children, child safety locks have been installed.

Luxury amenities range from the comfort of air conditioning to the ease of power door locks, power windows, and dual power mirror. A keyless entry system has been added for times when hands are full or when it is too dark to fumble with keys.

At the head of the lineup is the Escape XLS, with two-wheel front drive and a mileage rating of 23/28 (city/hwy). In addition to the generous standard features listed above, this model comes with an AM/FM stereo with CD player for the enjoyment of all passengers. Numerous options and packages are available with this and all other models.
Base invoice price: $16,753
Base list price: $17,850

Next is the Escape XLT, also with two-wheel front drive and featuring the additional benefit of ABS brakes for negotiating emergency braking situations or stopping confidently in uncertain weather conditions. Front fog lights help illuminate murky nights and hazy mornings on the way to work.

An AM/FM stereo with CD player is available as an option, as is luxurious leather seating and a moonroof/sunroof. Drivers will appreciate the standard convenience of cruise/speed control for longer highway drives. For peace of mind while away from the vehicle, Ford has installed a theft deterrent system.
Base invoice price: $18,164
Base list price: $19,400

The Escape XLS 4WD follows with an upgrade to four-wheel full-time drive for times when a more aggressive approach to terrain is needed. In addition to the standard features, this model offers options such as ABS brakes, cruise/speed control, and a theft deterrent system. The AM/FM stereo with CD player has been included once again at this level. The 4WD capacity makes this model a great choice for those who require four-on-the-floor to get them to cottages and ski chalets.
Base invoice price: $18,232
Base list price: $19,475

Rounding out the lineup is the Escape XLT 4WD, with four-wheel full-time drive. The Escape XLT 4WD is equipped with the extra safety measures of ABS brakes and front fog lights. Luxuries range from the many standard amenities already included to cruise/speed control, theft deterrent system, an optional moonroof/sunroof, AM/FM stereo with CD player, and leather seating.
Base invoice price: $19,642
Base list price: $21,025
