The new 2001 Ford F-150 Pick Up Truck is available in three rugged models, the XL, XLT, and Lariat. All trucks come in 4x2 or 4x4, and are available in Regular Cab or SuperCab, and Styleside or Flareside trims. Towing specifications and four pin wiring are standard, as are pickup box tie down hooks and removable tailgate.

Safety measures include four-wheel disc brakes with four-wheel ABS, and driver and right front passenger air bags with passenger deactivation switch for installing a child seat, and child seat tethers. All trucks are equipped with a passive anti-theft system. Fuel economy rating for the 4x2 is rated at 16/20 (city/hwy), while the 4x4 checks in at 15/19 (city/hwy). Each of the F-150 models builds on the previous in terms of performance, safety or luxury features. Various performance and appearance packages are available at each level.

The base model F-150 XL powers along on a 4.2L V6 engine with five-speed manual transmission, with all-season tires and 16-inch wheels with chrome hubs on the ground below. Creature comforts include an electronic AM/FM stereo/clock/cassette with four speakers, and cloth front and rear bench seating. Underhood light and cargo light included.

Next in the line up is the XLT, also with an energetic 4.2L V6 engine. Extra conveniences and comfort features are the mainstay of the F-150 XLT with air conditioning, electronic AM/FM stereo/clock/single CD player, power windows, power mirrors, and power locks. A Convenience Group includes speed control and tilt steering, tailgate lock, overhead console with compass, outside temperature control and storage. Seating is upgraded to 40/60 split bench with driver's lumbar, and includes center storage. Finally, the F-150 Lariat takes this pick up truck to the limit. A 4.6L V8 engine growls under its hood, with a four speed automatic transmission in control. The Lariat rolls on 17-inch spoke cast aluminum wheels with chrome hubs, and all-terrain tires. Amenities include a power driver's seat/autolamp, power adjustable pedals and full convenience and power groups. Seating has been upgraded to a leather-trimmed split-bench with driver's lumbar. Loaded with luxury, performance and safety features, the Lariat is an excellent choice for the serious pick up truck enthusiast.
