(See the review on the 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon) The sporty new 2001 Ford Focus offers up a hatchback, the Focus ZX3, and three sedan models, Focus LX, Focus SE, and Focus ZTS. Each vehicle has a seating capacity of five passengers, and has a four-cylinder engine with standard five-speed manual transmission and two-wheel front drive on all-season SBR tires. Automatic transmission is an option.

Safety standards include driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, front head restraint, and optional side impact air bags. The rear seat of each model conveniently folds down to accommodate more luggage or longer items such as canoe paddles.

A theft deterrent system has been installed for peace of mind while away from the vehicle. Numerous other performance, safety, and luxury features are available as options and packages.

The hatchback model, Focus ZX3, has two-door entry as well as the handy "third door" hatch. The four-cylinder engine and DOHC combine to produce a zippy 130 horsepower. Mileage checks in at 25/33 (city/hwy). In addition to the safety standards outlined above, the ZX3 has front fog lights for navigating through situations of poor visibility. A rear wiper keeps the back window clear for better visibility, and traction control is available as an option.

A convenient keyless entry system is included in the package for times when hands are full or the parking area is dark. For the enjoyment of all passengers, an AM/FM stereo with CD player entertains while cruising down the road.
Base list price: $12,125

Starting out the line of Ford Focus sedans is the LX, with four doors and a SOHC under the hood. For the protection of youngsters, child safety locks have been added. In addition to the standard base package features, several options and packages are available. With an economical price and a fuel rating of 28/36 (city/hwy), this sedan is a wise choice for consumers.
Base list price: $12,385

Next in the lineup is the Focus SE sedan, also with SOHC and terrific mileage. Child safety locks are standard, and luxury amenities have been added to the package. The conveniences of power door locks, dual power mirror, and power windows are included. Passengers will enjoy the comfort of air conditioning, and cruise/speed control and AM/FM stereo with CD player are available.
Base list price: $14,040

Finishing up the sedans is the Focus ZTS, with DOHC and 130 horsepower. ABS brakes are included to successfully navigate through emergency braking situations and stopping on slippery terrain. Front fog lights show the way through murky nights and hazy mornings, and traction control is available as an option. Child safety locks are again a standard. Luxuries include air conditioning, cruise/speed control, AM/FM stereo with CD player, and the full power group of power door locks, dual power mirror, and power windows. A keyless entry system and theft deterrent system are included. Topping it all off is the fine leather seating available as an option.
