The popular new 2001 Toyota Avalon Sedan is a testament to Toyota's reputation for reliability. Two models are available, the Toyota Avalon XL and the Toyota Avalon XLS. Each vehicle has four-door entry and has a convenient seating capacity of six passengers.

Under the hood is a powerful V6 engine with DOHC combining to produce an impressive 210 horsepower for great highway driving and acceleration. Transmission is four-speed automatic, tires are all-season SBR, and the drive is two-wheel front.

Toyota pays close attention to safety, with ABS brakes standard on both models for maintaining control while negotiating emergency braking situations and stopping in uncertain road conditions. Air bags include driver depowered, passenger depowered, and side impact, and both front and rear head restraints have been installed. To prevent mishaps with younger passengers, child safety locks are standard. Luxury features are generous and include air conditioning, power door locks, dual power mirror, and power windows.

To make highway driving more comfortable over longer distances, cruise/speed has been added. A keyless entry system eliminates fumbling with keys at times when hands are full or the parking area is dark. For the enjoyment of all passengers, the Avalon has been equipped with an AM/FM stereo with CD player. Guarding this impressive vehicle is a theft deterrent system.

At the first level, the Avalon XL is packed with all the standard performance, safety, and luxury features outlined above. It brings with it a responsive drive, cornering well and accelerating quickly into fast-paced traffic. Passengers will find this vehicle to be a smooth, comfortable ride with plenty of legroom and headroom. Options and packages include keyless entry system and leather seating.
Base list price: $25,845

The second model, Toyota's XLS, takes the impressive base package and adds to it some important features. Front fog lights have been included, illuminating otherwise treacherous visibility conditions. Other additions listed are a handy keyless entry system for times when hands are full, and a theft deterrent system for peace of mind. Traction control is a key option and leather seating is available as a package.
Base list price: $30,405
