2016 Porsche Boxster Overview:

About the 2016 Porsche Boxter
Coming off a recent 2015 redesign, the 2016 Porsche Boxster is the German automaker's take on the classic two-door luxury convertible roadster formula that has been a hit for everyone from Jaguar to Audi and BMW. The new platform further catapults the Boxster ahead of its competitors in the area of driving thrills.

2016 brings two new exciting editions to the Boxster line-up, the Black Edition, which comes with blacked-out paint and distinct trim and a nice array of performance upgrades, as well as the Boxster Spyder, a neat chopped roof model with dual safety domes protecting driver and passenger from rollover that also borrows the larger Carrera S's 3.8-liter engine to top the Boxster lineup with 375 horsepower.

Base models see a 265-horsepower, 2.7-liter flat-six engine, while upgrading to the 2016 Porsche Boxster S brings an upgraded 3.4-liter flat-six with 315 horsepower. Still more extreme is the Boxster GTS with its 330-horsepower 3.4-liter and brakes borrowed from the Porsche Carrera S. Fuel efficiency is nothing exciting by modern standards, with no model earning greater than 22 city and 32 highway mpg.

Each model comes with a power soft top with heated rear glass window, electromechanical steering, automatic start-stop, and a mid-mounted engine layout for near perfect 50-50 weight distribution and a uniquely thrilling level of driving engagement that even the Carrera Cabriolet can't match. Six-speed manuals with automatics optional are offered at each trim level, but only the Boxster Spyder can be ordered with the Porsche Dopplekupplung (PDK) dual-clutch automated manual transmission.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Porsche Boxster:

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Porsche Boxster invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost (calculated above) + Taxes / Licensing Fees - Rebate / Incentive = True Cost (You can get rebates and incentives here.)

Note: All Porsche Boxster Prices above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
