Ram Price Guides:
2017 Ram 2500 4WD Overview:
If you are looking for a full-size pickup with enhanced towing capabilities, take a look at the 2017 Ram 2500 4WD. It stands as the only truck in its class to offer a traditional manual transmission. Featuring off-road shock absorbers and locking differentials, the Power Wagon model is designed to tackle some seriously rough terrain. While the Ram 2500 4WD is clearly a tough-nosed performer, a comfortable cabin and surprisingly good handling make it especially rewarding to drive.

What’s New for 2017?

For the 2017 model year, the more luxurious trims feature an upgraded suspension. You can also opt for a new off-road package.

What Styles Does It Come In?

The 2017 Ram 2500 4WD is available in three body styles: regular cab, crew cab, and jumbo crew cab. A rugged 4WD system enables you to confidently tackle deep snow and mud. Unlike every other truck in the class, the Ram 2500 4WD offers both an automatic transmission and a manual gearbox. In terms of performance, the standard V-8 engine develops 383 horsepower. You can also upgrade to either a larger V-8 engine or an ultra-powerful Cummings diesel engine.

What Are the Available Trims?

  • Tradesman

Featuring basic equipment such as a six-speaker sound system and a USB port, the 2500 Tradesman will appeal to a lot of business owners.

  • SLT

The SLT trim is a step above the base model. It comes loaded with an extra number of high-tech goodies, including a 5.0-inch touch screen.

  • Big Horn

If you’d like an extra measure of style, the Big Horn version deserves a look. A set of 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome grille slats bolster the truck’s appearance. While behind the wheel, a 10-way driver seat gives you more adjustability.

  • Laramie

Not only does the Laramie trim flaunt a two-tone paint job, but it also features projector headlights. On the inside, heated/ventilated seats and a surround-sound audio system transform the truck into a more exciting highway cruiser.

  • Laramie Longhorn

Heated rear seats and navigation highlight the Laramie Longhorn trim.

  • Limited

Integrated into the truck’s bed rails, the RamBox cargo management system enables you to store extra gear. You will also like the Limited model’s 20-inch wheels and enhanced chrome trim.

  • Power Wagon

The Power Wagon is clearly the most rugged version of the 2017 Ram 2500 4WD. Aggressive off-road tires and an integrated winch help set it apart from the other trims.

Driving Impressions

Although the 2017 Ram 2500 4WD is a heavy-duty work horse, it hustles around corners like a much smaller truck. A smooth ride makes the 2500 4WD a great choice for traveling long distances. If you need to go off-road, very few trucks are more capable than the 2500 Power Wagon.

Fuel Economy

The EPA has not officially rated the Ram 2500 4WD’s fuel economy. However, you can expect it to be less efficient than a light-duty truck.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Ram 2500 4WD:

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Ram 2500 4WD invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)

Note: All Ram 2500 4WD Prices above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
