Ram Price Guides:
2017 Ram 3500 Overview:
Powerful and durable, the 2017 Ram 3500 2WD is ready to handle heavy-duty tasks. This versatile pickup truck offers the gas-powered HEMI V8 engines and diesel Cummins I-6 engine. Some of the vehicle's exterior paint options include Flame Red and Blue Streak Pearl. This Ram also has the Uconnect infotainment system with navigation and Wi-Fi.

Trims

There’s a choice of 3 cab styles for the 2017 Ram 3500 2WD. Up to six people can comfortably sit inside the Crew Cab or Mega Cab. The Regular Cab only accommodates up to three occupants. For just over $33,000, it's possible to purchase the Tradesman model. The SLT edition has a starting price of slightly more than $37,000. This premium trim can be upgraded with the Luxury Group and Popular Equipment Group.

Performance

The 2017 Ram 3500 2WD receives slightly more than 380 horsepower from the standard 5.7 L HEMI V8 engine. Offering up to 430 hp, the 6.4 L edition of this engine is the right choice for handling heavy-duty jobs. This powerful gas engine supports a payload of about 7,400 pounds. Running on diesel, the 6.7 L Cummins engine has a peak torque rating of 900 lb-ft. This turbocharged I-6 engine supports a conventional towing load of 31,210 pounds. The vehicle's impressive powertrain is managed by the Ram Active Air and Current Generation Engine Controller.

Optimized for quick gear selections, the automatic transmission by AISIN works with the Cummins engine. The HEMI engines are synced with a traditional six-speed automatic transmission system. This Ram truck rolls on a conventional rear-wheel drive that offers powerful takeoffs on different surfaces. An anti-spin differential axle provides optimum traction on paved roads and rough terrains. An electronically-controlled output ensures smooth acceleration under demanding conditions.

Efficiency

Depending on its powertrain configuration, the Ram 3500 offers just under 20 MPG on the highway and approximately 15 MPG in the city. For a full-size pickup truck that has a heavy-duty powertrain, this model is relatively efficient. The patented Next Generation Engine Controller reduces strain that may ultimately lead to drops in fuel economy. Additionally, dual alternators deliver up to 440 amps to keep this Ram model running smoothly.

Technology

The spacious cabin in this Ram truck is furnished with the Uconnect infotainment system that has 8.4-inch display. This multimedia console comes with navigation and traffic and weather updates by SiriuXM. A Wi-Fi connection with strong signals is also integrated into the Uconnect platform.

Passengers in this Ram vehicle can scan more than 100 music channels on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The latest hits may be played on the Alpine audio system that comes with nine total speakers, including a subwoofer. USB ports, an auxiliary jack and wireless Bluetooth are some other high-tech amenities in this vehicle.

Utility

Multiple upfitter switches are installed in the Ram 3500's sophisticated cab. These switches precisely control external attachments, such as snow plows. The rear bench seat in this truck includes a large storage section that's perfect for holding wires and small tools. Of course, the RamBox Cargo Management System on the bed can be used to store larger tools and equipment.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Ram 3500:

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Ram 3500 invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)

Note: All Ram 3500 Prices above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
