2020 Chevrolet Suburban Trim Levels, Configurations & Comparisons: LS vs LT & Premier

What 2020 Chevrolet Suburban Trim Level Should you Buy? What is the Difference Between Trims?

The Chevrolet Suburban range has seen quite a large amount of praise since it was initially unveiled, with much of this being driven by its engine power and overall style. Alongside this has been its size, which gives it a large amount of space in the interior without detracting from overall drivability.

The 2020 Chevrolet Suburban looks to capitalize on the success of previous generations by having a few tweaks and improvements while leaving much of the mechanicals unchanged. Despite this, a few of the trim levels have been removed, with the range now having just the LS, LT, and Premier levels.

The change can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how it’s looked at. While it does mean that there’s much less choice on offer, it’s also meant that all of the features that were available for the unavailable trims have been crammed into what’s left over. As a result, many drivers should be able to take advantage of a cost-effective purchase.

Outside of this, there have been relatively few changes from the previous edition of the vehicle, aside from inevitable style tweaks. However, the removal of several trims could lead to many potential buyers to struggle with which option to choose. Despite the now much more limited number of choices, the decision could be somewhat more difficult.

However, the differences between each of the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban’s trims could prove to be illuminating for the majority of people. Regardless of which route is taken, each of the large SUV’s levels should prove to be a wise one. This is primarily because of the engine that’s utilized for each of the trims.

While many drivers may prefer having the choice of upgrading the engine alongside the trim, the horsepower that’s available as standard with the new Chevrolet Suburban is quite massive. Coming in at 5.3-liters, the V-8 engine offers quite a significant 355hp and a large amount of torque.

Alongside this, the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban has quite an impressive handling while also offering a smooth enough drive for many people in the city, as well as drivers who may want to go off-roading. One of the only downsides to the SUV’s engine is that its fuel economy isn’t great when compared to others in its class.

Given the size of the vehicle, however, this should be expected, as the majority of SUVs have to strike a fine balancing act between size and fuel efficiency. As a result, the majority of SUV enthusiasts shouldn’t have a problem with the engine.

However, the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban’s engine isn’t where it shines among its class. Instead, its interior is much better equipped than many others in the field and comes with a front bench seat. The inclusion should mean that the vehicle can comfortably hold up to nine people, while also allowing for a large amount of extra cargo space, which is somewhat of a rarity when compared to many other SUVs.

Alongside this, the new Suburban offers much more luxury than many others in the large SUV class, which could be a drawing point for many buyers. This is something that can be seen across the entire vehicle, with the exterior being the tip of the iceberg. As a result, the Suburban is one of the more stylish in its class.

However, this enhanced style and luxury does come at quite a cost, with the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban being much more expensive than many of its contemporaries. While this could be a negative aspect for many potential buyers, there is a large amount of value with the SUV, although this can vary somewhat from trim to trim.

As such, the key differences between the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban’s trims will be vital for many potential buyers in determining whether or not they should buy them. While there are a large number of these, there aren’t as many as some people may expect. This is primarily because many of the features that were included in the removed trims either being gotten rid of completely or have been added to the Premier.

Despite this, each of the trim levels offers some key characteristics that many SUV lovers will want to take advantage of.

Compare the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LS Vs LT Trim Levels.  What’s The Difference?

Many SUV lovers would assume that the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LS trim wouldn’t have too many features as standard, given that it’s the base model on offer. However, one of the positive things about the removal of several trim levels has been that the LS has gotten a few extras compared to previous editions of the vehicle.

As a result, there’s quite a large number of them to boast about, with these helping to provide a significant amount of value, despite the high starting price. Some of the notable aspects of the LS can be seen from the exterior, which boasts a luxury design and a few features to boost its performance and style.

Notable among these is the inclusion of the polished aluminum wheels. While relatively small at 18-inches, they help to provide a nice touch to an SUV that already has an appealing design. Beyond this, the majority of features that many drivers will want to utilize will be found in the interior of the vehicle, which is as stylish as the exterior would suggest.

One of the most noticeable of these is the premium cloth fabric that’s used throughout the entirety of the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LS. This doesn’t just help with the style of the SUV, but also provides a significant amount of comfort. Both the front passenger and driver seat also features lumbar support, which is quite a notable benefit.

There are also quite a large number of infotainment features that many drivers could take advantage of. Prominent among these is a seek-scan radio that offers much more than many other base SUV models. Not only does this include the AM/FM stations that many people would expect, but also SiriusXM and Satellite radio as standard.

The sound system is also of a much higher quality than some people would initially assume, although this helps to add to the overall luxury experience that drivers could see with the vehicle. Alongside this are two LCD monitors in the first row of the SUV, which could be attractive for some buyers, although they don’t necessarily set the vehicle apart from competitors.

There are also a few other features that owners will be able to take advantage of when driving, with one of the most significant being windshield wipers. These feature rain-sensing technology that should ensure an automatic on/off feature, while also varying their speed depending on how large the downpour is.

The 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LS also includes heated mirrors, which could be a minor benefit for some drivers. Overall usability has been an area that Chevrolet focused on with the design of the large SUV, with each of the above features being as driver-friendly as possible. Also of note are a few other features that this applies to.

One of the most notable of these is a remote keyless entry feature that utilizes a keyfob across each of the doors. This should make entering and exiting the vehicle quite easy, which also extends to the locking system that’s been out in place.

However, there are a few other features included with the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LS that could prove to be useful. One of the most prominent of these is the inclusion of a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system in the front of the vehicle. This isn’t to say that there isn’t air conditioning in the back.

While there is one available, this is a manual and uses a different control system that the one included in the front. Outside of this, the only other notable feature included with the base trim of the Suburban is the parking assistance program that’s included as standard and which focuses on the back of the SUV. This is something that’s sorely needed, given the size of the vehicle.

While the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LT includes each of the above features, there are a few additions that many buyers could find attractive. Some of the most notable of these are tweaks and changes to the exterior design of the SUV, which could be one of the more significant reasons why people may be appealed by.

However, there are a few interior extras that the majority of people could like, although the majority of these focus on improving the interior’s style and comfort. One of the largest of these is a heating system that’s been put in place for the driver’s and front passenger’s seats.

Though this could be seen in many other larger SUVs, the system that’s put in place here includes heated-seatback and heated-cushion technology. As a result, this could be somewhat more notable than seen with many other entries in the niche.

Alongside this, the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LT trim upgrades the interior fabric to leather. Coupled with each of the other style upgrades that the large SUV has, this could make the trim quite an attractive option.

Compare the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LT Vs Premier Trims.  What’s The Difference?

The 2020 Chevrolet Suburban Premier trim retains its place as the most high-end options available in the range. While many people would expect that the removal of various lower-end trims would benefit the Premier, they could be sorely disappointed by the lack of new features included as standard.

Despite this, the trim could be an attractive choice for a large number of people, primarily because it includes a noticeable difference in overall style. As a result, many people could consider the trim based on style alone. While there’s been a variety of minor tweaks and alterations done here, they add up to quite an impressive change.

One of the largest of these changes is that the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban Premier trim includes larger wheels, which come in at 20-inches compared to the lower-end trim’s 18-inches. However, these are still made from polished aluminum, so there isn’t as much of a change here as many people would expect.

Alongside this is the inclusion of front-facing fog lights, which also have a minor impact on the look of the vehicle, although this has been done in a stylish manner. Outside of this, there are a few notable mechanical changes with the new Premier trim, although these are much smaller than people would think, especially given the large increase in asking price.

One of the largest of these is a change to the parking assistance program. Instead of being focused on the rear of the vehicle, it also features front-facing sensors. Given the size of the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban Premier, this is sorely needed and should benefit the majority of drivers.

The last notable difference between the Premier and lower-end trims is the inclusion of a navigation system, which could provide a few minor benefits to drivers.

Which Trim to Choose?

Given the significant increase in cost with each of the trim levels, may drivers may find it much more cost-effective to choose the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LS. While they’ll be giving up a variety of style upgrades and a few extra features, these are somewhat minimal. As a result, the LT and Premier don’t seem to provide too much value for money.

However, the base trim of the SUV contains quite a large number of features as standard, which is one of the few benefits resulting from the removal of many previous models. This could also make it one of the better-recommended choices for families, as this seems to be where Chevrolet has put the majority of the focus on the standard features.

However, if a driver is looking for a large amount of style with their purchase, then it could be worth skipping the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban LT trim and going directly for the Premier. Though this means that there will naturally be an additional cost, there are many more features included as standard with the option.

Coupled with this is the large amount of luxury that’s included with the option, which should be expected given its asking price. However, this should only be considered if the style upgrades are a priority, with the base model of the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban providing the most value for money.

While the LT does strike somewhat of a balance between cost-effectiveness and features, this doesn’t seem to be as fine as some people would believe. As a result, it’s recommended that many drivers look to avoid the option, especially considering the relatively bare-bone features that are added for quite a high cost.
