2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Trim Levels, Configurations & Comparisons.
Ford made a decisive step with the Mustang Mach-E, ushering in a new era of performance. With its impressive agility and power, plus an additional allure as an electric vehicle, it has already achieved success within two years on the market--and looks set to keep going strong.
Ford offers four different tiers of the Mustang Mach-E that are rich with unique features and amenities. Depending on your budget, personal tastes, or family needs; selecting between these powerful trims could be a difficult task for car buyers. To ease this decision making process we will delve into each trim to explore their key differences from one another so you can make an informed choice!
Compare the Select vs Premium Trims. What is the difference?
The Mustang Mach-E is a master class in electric performance. Featuring 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque from its standard battery pack & one motor engine, this Ford EV has the power to conquer any terrain or road condition with ease - easily outperforming many SUVs and crossovers along the way.
With two motors powering the Select and Premium trim models, experience a boost in torque up to 428 pound-feet. The all-wheel drive model boosts your ride's responsiveness as well as its speed; arriving at 60 miles-per hour 5.2 seconds faster than with rear wheel drive alone.
The Select offers a standard battery, but the Premium comes with an option for extended-range to increase power and performance. With rear-wheel drive, horsepower goes up from 266 to 290 while torque remains unchanged. If you opt for all-wheel drive in combination with the larger battery pack, your ride will have 346 horses galloping under its hood! Acceleration also sees impressive gains: 4.8 seconds gets you 60 mph if it has all wheel drivel - almost two full seconds faster than when fitted out with just the basic setup.
Range is a critical element when considering an electric model. The standard Select battery has impressive power, with RWD boasting up to 247 miles and AWD managing 224 mileage capabilities. Not quite as far-reaching are the Premium batteries - RWD can reach 230 miles confidently; however, if equipped with AWD that drops to 211 range topped off per charge.
Now, the extended-range battery increases those numbers significantly, which is why it's going to be able to attract attention from buyers. A Premium with the upgraded battery and RWD can travel on a full battery for 303 miles. Range is estimated to be 277 for a Premium with AWD and the upgraded battery.
Step into sophistication with the Select trim! From a stunning 15.5-inch touchscreen to an integrated navigation system, you'll have all the features necessary for navigating life on and off road. Plus, enjoy perks like FordPass Connect, SiriusXM radio as well as wireless charging capabilities - eliminating cords from your tech lifestyle - plus 18" aluminum wheels and rain-sensing wipers adding stylish flair in even inclement weather conditions.
It has LED headlamps and LED signature taillights with sequential rear turn signals. These can really catch the eye of other drivers. The mirrors on the Select are heated and display the Pony logo onto the ground when the vehicle is first unlocked. They have LED turn signals, too.
That being said, the Select feels a little basic is just a few areas. It doesn't come standard with heated front seats or a memory function for the driver's seat, though these are optional. It also doesn't have a power liftgate, though again, it's optional.
The Premium model offers features that will make life easier, such as a power liftgate and heated front seats. For added convenience it includes power-folding mirrors, an insulated steering wheel for those cold mornings and a cover to keep your cargo area secure. The luxurious design continues onto the seating with ActiveX material - perforated on the premium grade or wrapped in Select editions.
In regards to the side mirrors, the Premium has the more comprehensive package. Its side mirrors have black painted caps and a power-folding function. Also, the entertainment system on the Premium is slightly more advanced. It comes with nine Bang & Olufsen speakers in addition to a subwoofer. In comparison, the standard sound system uses six speakers.
Both trims have scuff plates for the front doors. The Select has black plates with the iconic Mustang pony graphic, and the Premium has aluminum inserts with premium lettering. Further, the Premium has ambient lighting.
Ford has gone the extra mile to ensure safety in the Mustang Mach-E, equipping this crossover with an impressive array of driver-assist features. An encompassing 360-degree camera offers a complete view around you while Ford BlueCruise hands free driving and parking assist option help put your mind at ease on every journey--these amenities being standard for Premium models.
One last element found in the Premium but not the Select is a panoramic fixed-glass roof. This makes the cabin feel more spacious than it already is, and it adds to the elegance of the vehicle.
Compare the Premium vs California Route 1 Trim Levels. What is the difference?
The Premium trim offers a cost-savvy selection of lavish features, such as ten speakers, perforated ActiveX seats and illuminated door scuff plates. Even with its more economical price tag the premium still provides you with sought after conveniences like heated front seating and steering wheel - all while remaining below the California Route 1 options' costs.
When it comes to choosing between the California Route 1 and Premium models, there's a key factor that sets them apart — battery size. The $5,000 more expensive California Route 1 packs an extended-range battery as standard while buyers of the Premium will be confined to its standard-range option unless they upgrade at extra cost. Additionally premium features such as 18 inch high gloss black paint wheels with Aero covers are only available on the higher priced model.
The Premium with the superior battery may cost a bit more, but it’s worth considering for those seeking performance and range. The California Route 1 undoubtedly offers value at its price point, however if you're after maximum power - springing for the premium is definitely an option!
Mustang Mach-E Premium is the only trim level that can get a sporty Ice White Appearance Package. With its 19" white-painted pockets, Star White metallic paint and Oxford White badging, this package will give your vehicle an unparalleled look of style and performance. The interior also features Light Space Gray armrests along with seating material for enhanced comfort - all capped off by a classic steering wheel with embossed white pony emblem.
Compare the California Route 1 vs GT. What is the difference?
The Mustang-inspired GT is truly an electric game changer. Equipped with upgraded mechanical components and all wheel drive, this powerful machine can blast from zero to 60 in a lightning fast 3.5 seconds thanks to its 480 horsepower engine and remarkable 634 pound feet of torque on the Performance Edition version.
Although the 2022 Mustang Mach-E GT punches above its weight in terms of performance capabilities, it does come with a tradeoff. Its range is slightly lower than other models; while the regular GT offers up to 270 miles and the Performance Edition has 260 - still better than standard battery power on most Mustangs, but not as far reaching as California Route 1's cars.
The Mustang Mach-E GT is the ultimate marriage of sporty style and dynamic performance. It boasts a bold black painted roof, 20 inch wheels, power liftgate and – as an optional add on - panoramic top with Ford BlueCruise driver assist technology included in its package deal; it even has 360 degree camera to complete the picture!
The GT cabin offers a range of features similar to the California Route 1, however it can be upgraded with top-of-the-line speakers from Bang & Olufsen. Its ActiveX seats come complete with Miko inserts and copper metallic stitching for an enhanced driving experience. The exterior is completed by signature LED projector headlamps which are superior to those on the Premium's reflector version, along with ambient lighting adding extra flair inside. Additionally there is some choice over cargo area cover options available as well.
Which Trim to Choose?
Electric vehicles have become more popular than ever, and the Select is an excellent choice for those who want to enjoy the full joys of driving without breaking the bank. Sure, it can be upgraded with extra features if desired but its basic package contains everything drivers need in order to cruise safely and reliably around town. On that note, road warriors may find themselves drawn towards a GT which packs some serious performance capabilities - albeit at a high price point.
The California Route 1 trim of the electric vehicle model provides an impressive range and numerous benefits. For those frequently on-the-go, this extended battery capacity is a key factor making it difficult to resist - meaning longer journeys without needing to stop for power.
