2022 Honda CR-V vs Nissan Rogue

2022 CR-V vs Rogue - How Do They Stack Up? Which is Better?

The small crossover SUV segment is one that is rich with options for the 2022 model year. Two of its most popular members are the Honda CR-V and the Nissan Rogue. Spacious but not bulky, vehicles in this class tend to emphasize the balance between fuel efficiency and snappy acceleration. Cargo capacity is something that also tends to be a priority in these vehicles.

Two cars may look the same, but underneath their exteriors lies a world of differences! From build quality and incorporated technology to powertrain variations that determine how each car drives, there's more than meets the eye when it comes to comparing them. So if you're in for some automotive comparison shopping - make sure to give these two rides a spin before making your final decision.

The Powertrain

Let's kick things off by comparing the powertrainoptions for the 2022Honda CR-V and the 2022 Nissan Rogue. Given that the driving performance highly depends on how well these systems work, it is important to know what to expect before you decide to invest your hard-earned money in a new crossover SUV.

The 2022 Honda CR-V is the perfect ride for adventure seekers! Its turbocharged four cylinder engine packs a punch of 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque, ensuring you have plenty enough power to take on any terrain. Enjoy supreme control with its efficient CVT paired with either front wheel or all wheel drive (except Touring trim!), so no journey will be left untamed in this stylish machine.

Compared to other crossover SUVs the same size, the CR-V's turbo engine puts in a strong performance. The AWD-equipped CR-V is able to sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.2 seconds, which is certainly adequate enough for making your daily commute easy-going. It isn'tmeant to bethrilling; that isn't the aim of this segment by any stretch of the imagination. But the CR-V sure puts in a good effort. While most CVTs aren't the best at shifting between gears, Honda has their CVTs down to a science. This one shifts smoothly enough and offers an overall natural response to most inputs.

It is worth noting that CR-V's steering and handling also stand out. There is less in the way of body roll to be felt, and also the steering system feels as though it offers plenty of feedback to the driver. There is no guesswork involved, so drivers feel secure behind the wheel.

The Honda CR-V is renowned for its efficient motoring, and this explains why they equip it with a fuel-saving CVT gearbox. EPA estimates suggest that drivers can expect up to Thirty mpg combined from the front wheel drive model - an impressive figure! If you've got the AWD version then figures range between Twenty nine to 35mpg: how much efficiency you get depends on your driving style – gentle cruising will net better returns than aggressive acceleration.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is equipped with a punchy 2.5-liter four cylinder engine for an impressive 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, making sure you have enough power to enjoy the journey ahead. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) comes standard while AWD can be chosen as available option in all trim levels – including front wheel drive on each model so that no matter your preference, there's something here for everyone.

When the Rogue was redesigned in 2021, the vehicle was given more power and overall better performance. The steering system feels bulkier and provides better feedback to the driver. While it is not sporty, the Rogue is able to handle winding roads and tight turns prettywell. Sadly, the powertrain still holds the Rogue back. It takes 9.2seconds for the Rogue to get up to 60 mph, which is about a full second slower than the CR-V. Even with the gas pedal pressed halfway down, there is not an ample thrust of power to get the vehicle going.

Drivability

When it comes to vehicles, drivability is the all-encompassing measure of performance. Factors like comfort, design appeal, technology sophistication and build quality come into play when assessing driving enjoyment - but certain rides just have that extra special something that sets them apart from their peers. So much can hang in the balance between a great journey or an uninspiring one – making vehicle selection even more important.

The Honda CR-V is the epitome of user-friendly, offering a tranquil and comforting ride quality backed by 19-inch tires capable of tackling even the bumpiest roads. Its padded front seats provide spinal support while its rear occupants can enjoy reclining back in comfortthanks to adjustable seating. Top it off with an automatic climate control system complemented by air vents designed for optimal flow - making this vehicle perfect for any journey.

The Honda CR-V offers a comfortable driving experience tailored specifically to each driver, with an adjustable tilting and telescoping steering wheel and easily customizable front seats. Even passengers in the rear will have plenty of space thanks to its spacious cabin. While some of the onscreen buttons may be confusing at first glance, physical controls are intuitively designed for convenience - though keep in mind that sunlight can wash out fuel or digital temperature gauges.

Honda's CR-V comes standard with an impressive tech package. The base LX trim level boasts a 4-speaker sound system, while the Special Edition (SE) cranks it up another notch with its 7-inch touchscreen display and 6 speaker audio set up plus smartphone app integration for Apple CarPlay orAndroid Auto users.

Rear USB ports get added to the EX trim, and the EX-L gets an eight-speaker sound system. Should you opt for the line-topping Touring trim level, you will get an integrated navigation system, wireless phone charger, and a nine-speaker sound system. Some of the touchscreen menus come off as clunky, but the nav screen is clear. Take note: The voice controls can be a little frustrating to use since they don't always understand natural speech patterns.

Cargo volume is some of the best you can get in this segment. You get 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats left in place. Folding the back seats down will boost the CR-V's capacity to 75.8 cubic feet. Small-item storage is quite good, as the center console is immensely deep and can be configured using a sliding tray that also serves as a cover for your valuables.

The CR-V's 1500pounds maximum towing capacity is its biggest pitfall. Most others in this segment can tow 3500 pounds, so this vehicle might not be a good fit for anyone wanting to pull a lot.

Now, for the 2022 Nissan Rogue. The Rogue is, already stated, not a sporty vehicle - but it isn't meant to be, either. The Rogueis actually quite comfortable with pleasantly padded seats fore and aft. The rear seats have two recline positions, and there is supple lumbar support. the suspension provides a smooth ride quality and avoids the jitters even with the optional 19-inch wheels equipped. There is a bit of wind and road noise that makes it into the cabin while you cruise along the highway. There is even a functional tri-zone climate control available on the SL trim level and above.

There is plenty of space to enter and exit the Rogue because of its door's 90-degreeopening. Since the windows are large and tall, you have plenty of room to see outside. To obtain a good view out of the back, which is obscured by roof pillars, you will, however, need to rely on some of the driving aids. Although there is limited legroom in the back row, the interior is designedfor functionality and practicality, efficient and useful. The headrest has a slight forward inclination as well, which may upset certain people.

Tech-savvy and tech-wary drivers alike can enjoy the techy features equipped on the Rogue. Starting on the base S trim level, you get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a four-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone app integration, SiriusXM Satellite radio, and two USB ports up front. The SV trim adds two rear USB ports and WIFI hot-spot connectivity. Opting for the SL Premium package will get you an integrated navigation system, 9-inchtouchscreen display, a 10-speaker Bose premium audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and voice controls. The Platinum standardizes those features and adds in a wireless charging pad for good measure.

Nissan's Divide-N-Hide two-tier cargo management system is helpful with its dual-panel floor that can rest in the higher position in order to make a flatter load areawhen you fold the rear seats down. When you want, just lower the cargo panels for even more storage space or use one as a cargo divider. The downside is that cargo space is a bit tight unless you fold the seats down. You get 36.5 cubic feet when the panels are in the lowest position, but you do get a massive 74.1 cubes when you fold the rear seats down. So, you do at least get some versatility.

Safety

Honda and Nissan both prioritize driver safety with their range of vehicles, packed full of helpful driver aids. The 2022 CR-V from Honda is a prime example - automatic high beam headlights, adaptive cruise control for smooth journeys on the highway and Lane Keeping Assist to help you stay in lane; all as standard. Going up to EX trim level also adds Blind Spot Monitor so that nothing comes out of left field when changing lanes or backing up! However the Forward Collision Mitigation system can be overly sensitive at times and sound alarms even if stuck in slow moving traffic – no need worry though.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue provides a multitude of driver aides to keep you safe and sound on the road. Along with standard forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitor/rear cross traffic alert system and rear automatic braking - it also offers Lane Departure Mitigation for SV trim levels along with front & back parking sensors in SL Premium packages plus an incredible head up display in Platinum trims.

Which Has the Best Value?

The 2022 Honda CR-V is a great value, offering consumers unbeatable build quality and power for theirmoney. With all trim levels now equipped with a turbo engine, drivers can enjoy the car's road capabilities without breaking the bank. Additionally, it comes standard with three years of bumper to bumper coverage along with five year protection on its powertrain components plus roadside assistance throughout - giving you peace of mind no matter where your journey takes you.

With the 2022 Nissan Rogue, you get so much more than just your average SUV. Not only is it competitively priced, but it also offers features like quilted leather that are usually reserved for luxury models; however, with industry standard warranty coverage and all these amazing amenities included - there's no denying its worth.

Which is Better?

The 2022 Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue offer an exciting lineup of small SUVs. While the Rogue looks brand new with its recent redesign, the timeless design of the CR-V remains a stylish option for thoseseeking class and quality craftsmanship. On top of that, both cars promise strong fuel economy coupled with plenty of cargo space - ensuring you get all your essentials wherever life takes you!

The Rogue and the CR-V stand neck-and-neck in terms of features, but ultimately it's the latter that comes out on top. Despite its impressive array of amenities, one drawback to the Rogue is a less than ideal powertrain - something that has been masterfully refined in Honda’s offering. With this downside taken into consideration though, there's no denying that when comparing these two vehicles side by side only one can come away with bragging rights: the street savvy CR-V.
