The 2020 Lexus LS 500 is now in its fifth generation that debuted in the 2018 model year. But everything is still impressive for the 2020 model with a 7.6/10 rating on Edmund’s. It’s a full-size luxury sedan that is comfortable, reliable and safe. The standard technology features include Bluetooth Wireless technology, Cruise Control, Hands-free Phone, Keyless Entry, Push-Button Engine Start and Dual Power Front Seats with heated seats. In relation to its competitors, it is a little shorter than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with an overall length of 123 inches and a 206.1 wheelbase.

The LS 500 has a standard engine of a twin-turbocharged 3.4 liter V-6 with a smooth 416 horsepower. It also has a 10-speed automatic transmission with the option for a manual transmission. With this type of performance you can expect 18-25 mph in the city with 27-33 mph on the highway. The powertrain delivers excellent acceleration of reaching 60mph in 4.6 seconds. The LS models can be driven in either all-wheel or rear drive.

The standard Adaptive Variable Suspension has a continuous variable up to 650 levels so that the driver may stiffen and soften the ride for enhanced comfort and response. The driver modes include Eco, Normal, Comfort, Custom, Sport S and Sport S+. It is recommended that the Comfort mode is best for normal driving while the Eco mode is better for fuel economy.

 The safety features available for Lexus LS 500 has a head-up display, front cross traffic alert, side collision warning and reverse automatic braking. All LS models include standard safety airbags in front, rear-side, front knee and full-length side-curtain airbags. All LS models also include a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking.

It also boasts a gorgeous, high-end interior with all LS models featuring an impressive infotainment system in the dashboard complete with all your essentials including Amazon Alexa, Apple Carplay, navigation and 4G WiFi hotspot. The Executive Package includes individual rear-seat climate controls, 22-way power-adjustable seats that can heat, cool, recline and massage the occupant. It also includes an ottoman for the right-side passenger, with a touch screen to control audio and climate functions inside the vehicle. When backseat drivers approach the vehicle they can either open the doors or have the doors open for them. All Lexus LS models feature Voice Command recognition for navigation, music and phone calls.

The non-hybrid LS models measure their trunk space of approximately 17 cubic feet.

The sedan seats five people with comfortable front seats and plenty of room for adult passengers in the rear seats. And for your child passengers, the Lexus LS has two sets of LATCH connectors for the rear seats and a tether anchor for the rear middle seat. The Lexus LS offers a few upgrade packages:

The Interior Upgrade Package allows you to add semi-aniline leather upholstery and 28-way power-adjustable massage driver’s seat with heated rear seats.

The Luxury Package includes the Interior Upgrade package while also adding quad-zone automatic climate control. The rear seats are 18-way power adjustable by a 7-inch touch screen in the rear-seat center console.

The Executive Package includes all of the amenities of the two previous packages but also throws in power-retractable front headrests and the rear seats feature 22-way power-adjustable massage controlled by the rear-seat center console.

There is also an option of the upgraded driver assistance as well. The Lexus Safety System+A includes an enhanced adaptive cruise control with automatic lane change assistant system, front cross traffic alert and a 24-inch head display. You can also include an adaptive air suspension, adaptive headlights and a surround-view parking camera system.

Available features for you to add to your own vehicle include a panoramic glass roof and a 7-inch rear center console touch screen. Lexus has a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty at time of purchase.

The LS 500 Sport includes all the standard features of the LS 500, except it has a firmer suspension and strong brakes. The fuel-economy is one of the redeeming qualities of the LS500h’s powertrain if you’re looking to save a buck at the gas pump. You can expect the LS500 to run 30 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city, while the rear-wheel drive LS500h earned an EPA rating of 33/25 mpg.

The 2020 Lexus 500 F Sport has the standard features of the Lexus LS but also has dual zone automatic air conditioning, heat-cushioned front seats, heated mirrors and rain-sensored windshield wipers.

It also includes SiriusXM AM/FM/HD/Satellite seek-scan Radio. In terms of style, the F Sport has black mesh grille surrounds and black embellishments on the front and rear bumpers. It also has LED daytime running lights and slanted LED tail lights with signature “L” design. It is equipped with 20-inch Dark Graphite finish wheels with summer rubber. The F Sport also has an optional sunroof mirror as well. It also has an option for all white leather interior if you so choose for your vehicle. The F Sport is available in nine of the offered hues for the standard Lexus LS series excluding Eminent White Pearl and Nightfall Mica, but also includes a new hue - Ultra White.

The variable air suspension is noticeably more stiff in the F Sport but doesn’t alter the enjoyment of library-quiet ride. It also features 28-way sport seats and sport gauges. Unlike the Lexus LS 500, the driver is limited to Eco, Normal, Sport S and Sport S+. The Sport and Sport+ modes amplify the engine sounds pumped into the cabin to enjoy the roar of your travels.

The upgrade to the F Sport is that the exterior features an attractive Mesh Grille. It also has front and four-piston rear brake calipers and aluminum pedals. It features 15.7 inch ventilated discs and all brakes on the F Sport are sport-tuned for your driving pleasure.

The F Sport model is also available in the Performance packages which adds variable gear ratio steering, active rear steering and active stabilizers.

The F Sport model is also available in either the 416-hp twin-turbo V-6 or with the 354-hp hybrid setup. It also includes the Lexus Adaptive Variable Suspension with adaptive dampers.

Although there are intriguing options to choose from, The F Sport model is more style over performance and substance. But it is a comfortable, cool and luxurious sports sedan to enjoy and drive whether it be a quick stop at the grocery store or a cross-country road trip.

The 2020 LS 500h has all the standard features of the LS500 but this model has a hybrid powertrain that uses 3.5 liter V-6 and two electric motors that makes a 354 horsepower. The 2020 LS 500h has a 44-kwh lithium-ion battery with an automatic four-speed transmission, with optional manual transmission. This model will definitely save you money on gas.

The interior cabin has your standard glove compartment, center armrest cubby for your rear passengers as well as an organized dashboard with complimentary trays and bins to store your cell phone and miscellaneous stuff. It also has your standard cup holders and door pockets for additional storage.

If trunk space is a concern, the hybrid model has a slightly smaller trunk space, measuring at 15.2 cubic feet losing about 2 feet of space compared to the non-hybrid models of 17 cubic feet.

The difference between the 2020 Lexus LS 500h and the LS 500 Inspiration Series is the luxury interior options that you can choose from for your vehicle. There’s also an added bonus of the Inspiration Series being of a limited-run of 300 units available. The Inspiration Series features blue LED accent lights on the dashboard with puddle lamps that show the Lexus logo on the ground when occupants approach the vehicle.

The Inspiration Series model has the LS 500’s 3.5 liter twin-turbo V6 engine with the Rear-wheel drive is standard. But this series also offers an all-wheel drive system as an option. The Inspiration Series doesn’t offer any wild or crazy add-ons to the interior, exterior or mechanical to the standard vehicle but it does have a limited-edition appearance package to make your ride a little more special.The 2020 LS Inspiration Series has a special color palette for the exterior called Deep Garnet. You can also choose from two-row and three-row variants of dark trim and white leather as an additional interior option. The Inspiration Series also has 20-inch Black Vapor Chrome wheels.

The interior of the Inspiration series has a semi-aniline leather across the seats and doors with a textured brown fabric on the door inserts. The interior also features wood trims inlaid with a spindle grille motif. The interior is plush with its gorgeous interior that makes it a feast for the eyes and relaxation for you and your passengers.

Which Model to Choose?

The 2020 Lexus LS 500h might be your best buy when you consider that the hybrid model earned a 33/35 mpg rating from the EPA. It also contains all of the standard features of the Lexus LS with the benefit of saving more on gas.The LS hybrid also comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile hybrid component warranty.

But if you like the idea of leasing a limited edition series, LS Inspiration may be the second best decision compared to the 500h. You’ll be driving with all the standard features of the Lexus LS with all of the added luxuries you and your passengers will enjoy on long road trips.
