The Lexus NX can attract a lot of attention due to its streamlined body, modern elements, and sporty style. As a compact SUV, the NX is going to have a broad appeal. It's fun to drive and practical in terms of its size, and because of it's interior features, it fulfills to the high expectations that consumers have of luxury vehicles.
Lexus makes many versions of the NX. There are a total of four powertrains to choose from, with all-wheel drive being available with most of them.
Compare the 250 vs 250 AWD. What is the difference?
The 250 and 250 AWD use 2.5-liter engines with four cylinders. They can make 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and they're able to hit a speed of 60 miles per hour in 8.2 seconds. Lexus has paired this engine with an eight-speed sequential-shift electronically controlled automatic transmissions. Paddle shifters are included to give drivers more control, if they prefer to have it.
Obviously, the main difference between the 250 and 250 AWD is that the latter has all-wheel drive. Some consumers are going to need that extra traction in order to more effectively drive in slippery conditions. All-wheel drive costs about $1,600, making it a reasonable addition.
Having all-wheel drive does decrease efficiency, but only by a marginal amount. The AWD version of the 250 can get an estimated 25 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway. The regular 250 can earn 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway.
Other than this, the two trims are identical to each other.

The 350 AWD runs on a turbocharged engine to give it a little boost. Its engine has a displacement of 2.4 liters, so it is similar in size to the engine on the 250 versions. Because it has a turbocharger, the 350 AWD is able to make 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, and it can go from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds. This is a significant increase in performance over what the 250 AWD can do.
Another way in which the 350 AWD is mechanically enhanced is that it has a performance damper. This damper can absorb some of the distortions and vibrations associated with driving.
A small tradeoff is that the 350 AWD isn't as efficient as the 250 AWD is. The 350 AWD achieves an estimated 22 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.
Both the 250 AWD and 350 AWD ride on 18-inch wheels. However, the 350 AWD has the option to upgraded to 20-inch wheels.
Other than this, the two trims look the same. They have bi-LED headlamps, blade taillamps, and roof rails. Their auto-dimming heated side mirrors have an auto tilt-down function. Several available features are available, including a panorama glass roof or a power moonroof, a power-operated rear door or a hands-free rear door, and triple-beam LED headlamps with adaptive front lighting.
There really aren't any other differences inside the cabin, either. The exception is that the 350 AWD has active sound control to keep the cabin more peaceful.
Both of these Lexus NX versions have seven-inch displays behind their steering wheels, a full set of driver-assist technologies, ten-speaker sound systems, wireless smartphone integration, and 9.8-inch touchscreens. If anyone wants wireless charging, navigation, or 17-speaker audio packages, those are available at an additional cost.

The 350 F Sport is a more performance-oriented version of the Lexus NX. An F Sport-tuned suspension and better quality shock absorbers give this trim enhanced handling.
Adaptive variable suspension is another standard feature on the F Sport. This system constantly monitors various factors, such as G-force, speed, driver input, and yaw rate, and it can make accurate adjustments to the dampers in order to optimize control. Depending on whether the SUV is going over rough roads, dealing with city traffic, or traveling at high speeds on the highway, the vehicle will respond appropriately.
All trims of the Lexus NX have Drive Mode Select. On the lower trims, there are three modes: ECO, Normal, and Sport. With the F Sport, the options increase. The modes are ECO, Normal, Sport S, Sport S+, and Custom. Those who love the thrill of driving can play around with the different modes in order to fine-tune how their vehicles respond.
The 350 F Sport has a long list of features that the lower trims don't have. Its front-fender badges, front fascia, and rear bumper are all slightly different than those found on the 350 AWD. Plus, its roof rails, outside mirrors, and window-trim surround all have a gloss black finish. They match the 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels, which are covered by F Sport-specific wheel fender arches.
Many of the available elements that the 350 AWD has are also available on the 350 F Sport. One of them, though, has become standard for the 350 F Sport. At this level, rain-sensing windshield wipers are automatically included.
On the digital screen behind the steering wheel, the 350 F Sport has something extra. It has displays that show information about turbo-boost and G-force. People who love pushing their vehicles might appreciate having this type of data.
In addition, the 350 F Sport has slightly different features inside its cabin when compared with the 350 AWD and the 250 trims. Those trims have leather-wrapped steering wheels and shift knobs, while the 350 F Sport has perforated leather wrapped around those pieces. It also has aluminum pedals, front seats with enhanced bolsters, a black headliner with dark graphite interior trim, and a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column.
The 350 AWD does have the option for perforated leather seats instead of NuLuxe, which is what both the 350 AWD and 350 F Sport have been set up with. The 350 AWD has the option for a power-adjustable steering column, and its available heated and power-folding rear seats are not an option on the 350 F Sport.
Compare the 350 F Sport AWD vs 350h AWD. What is the difference?
Lexus's F Sport trims are distinct from the others, so it makes sense that the 350h doesn't have all of the stylistic embellishments that its counterpart has inside and outside its cabin. The 350h doesn't have the special suspension, either.
The "h" in the 350h trim name designates that this trim is a hybrid. It uses a 2.5-liter engine with a pair of electric motors. Net horsepower is 240, which isn't as much as what the 350 models offer but is more than what the 250 models can do. This type of hybrid can accelerate to a speed of 60 miles per hour in 7.2 seconds.
What will attract a lot of people to this trim is its efficiency. It earns an estimated 41 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway. For those considered about gasoline consumption, these numbers will be key factors in their decision-making process.
The 350h goes back to having 18-inch wheels. Like all of the other previously mentioned models except for the 350 F Sport, it's available with a digital rearview mirror. This mirror can transform from a traditional one into a digital display that shows a clear view of what's behind the SUV, using the rear-mounted camera.
Compare the 350h AWD vs 450h+ AWD. What is the difference?
What makes the 450+ special is that it's a plug-in hybrid. Its battery can be charged by plugging into a regular outlet or a fast-charging outlet, and it can also use gasoline. This gives it a lot of appeal to those who don't necessarily want to have a 100% electric vehicle just yet.
Like the 350h, the 450h+ uses a 2.5-liter gas-powered engine. This trim is more powerful than the 350h is, as it has 304 horsepower. It takes only six seconds for it to hit the 60-mph mark.
This makes the 450h+ the most powerful version of the Lexus NX, going to prove that just because something is efficient doesn't mean it's not thrilling to drive. As a plug-in hybrid, the 450h+ has an estimated fuel economy of 84 MPGe.
The 450h+ rides on 20-inch wheels that have a dark gray metallic finish. It comes standard with a power tilt-and-slide moonroof, but the panorama glass roof that's available on the other trims is not an option with this one. For more convenience, it has a power rear door with a kick sensor.
Lexus has given this trim a more sophisticated cabin than the rest. It comes standard with heated and ventilated front seats, a ten-way power-adjustable driver's seat, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and perforated leather upholstery with chevron seat quilting. The steering wheel is heated, and a memory system works with the steering wheel, side mirrors, and driver's seat.
At this level, a number of upgrades have been made to the technology package. The 450h+ has a 14-inch touchscreen instead of a 9.8-inch one. It has standard Wi-Fi connectivity and navigation. Unfortunately, the plug-in hybrid is not available with the 17-speaker, 1,500-watt sound system that the other trims can have.
The 350h and 450h+ are the only two trims to come with the option to get Advanced Park, which allows the Lexus to park itself. With this advanced system, the SUV can take care of steering, braking, acceleration, and gear changes. It's a completely hands-free experience.
A standard program on the 450h+ is Intuitive Parking Assist. It notifies the driver when he or she is getting too close to objects while maneuvering in tight spaces. This program is available on the lower NX trims, and while it's not nearly as amazing as Advanced Park, it can be pretty useful.
Compare the 450h+ AWD vs 450h+ F Sport AWD. What is the difference?
For those with high performance expectations, the 450h+ F Sport will be very intriguing. Like the 450h+, it's speedy and responsive. Like the other F Sport version of the NX, it has adaptive variable suspension and special drive modes that let people take driving to the next level. The digital display on the 450h+ F Sport shows G-force and the energy-monitor, so it should appeal to a data-oriented consumer.
The 450h+ F Sport has NuLuxe upholstery instead of perforated leather seats, and it has aluminum pedals, a special F Sport steering wheel with a heating element, heated and ventilated F Sport front seats, and the extra features on the exterior that give it a very athletic appearance. Those include gloss black roof rails, gloss black wheels, and gloss black outside mirrors.
Which Trim to Choose?
While the 450h+ would be great to have, it is quite pricey. The 450h+ AWD costs more than $55,000, and the F Sport version of the plug-in hybrid is even more expensive. This will likely put it out of many people's reach.
That's why the Lexus NX 350h is the recommend trim. It has a good deal of power, it doesn't use that much gasoline, and it has a lot of interior amenities. It gives passengers a luxury experience, and it has dozens of available add-ons in case a buyer wants to bring up its level of sophistication even more.
Long-term savings at the gas pump may be able to compensate for the slightly higher price of the 350h in comparison with the 250. Note that the 350h has just about the same starting cost as the 350 does, which is about $41,000.
