The Nissan Rogue could be a practical choice for anyone looking for a two-row SUV. It has a comfortable cabin and generous cargo space, and it can come with a lot of advanced technology. It's relatively efficient while having good capability, so drivers can be confident when they're behind the wheel of one of the models.
Nissan makes four trims of the Rogue. They all run on 1.5-liter turbocharged engines. This is a change for the 2022 model year. Customers will appreciate that the new Rogue is more powerful than it's ever been. It can make up to 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque.
All-wheel drive is available, and every trim uses a continuously variable transmission with manual mode. Paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel are standard, and so are Eco and Sport drive modes. If the Nissan is equipped with all-wheel drive, it would also have Snow and Off-Road drive modes to make it a little easier to deal with rough conditions.

As the entry-level trim, the S rides on 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and it has automatic LED headlights as well as LED daytime running lights and LED taillights. Tinted windows can provide some privacy for those riding in the back.
The SV's exterior is upgraded in a few ways. It has slightly larger wheels that measure 18 inches, and its side mirrors are more sophisticated. They come with heating elements and LED turn signal indicators. Roof rails, a dual-panel panoramic moonroof, and a power liftgate are all optional on the SV, but not on the S.
The differences continue inside the cabins of these two trims. The S is fairly basic, with its manually adjustable front seats and cloth upholstery. It has a standard air conditioning system, but it does come with air vents that can keep the rear-seat passengers more comfortable.
While the SV comes standard with cloth seats, it's available with leather upholstery. It can also be upgraded with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel wrapped in a synthetic leather called Prima-Tex. The SV's main advantage over the S in terms of seating is that it provides drivers with an eight-way power-adjustable seat. That seat offers two-way power-lumbar support, too.
On the SV, the driver and front passenger can both set their preferred temperature, thanks to a dual-zone automatic climate control system. One of the other convenient features that the SV has is the Nisan Intelligent Key program. It's an upgrade over the regular remote keyless entry system that the S has. With it, a driver doesn't even need to push a button to unlock the doors; instead, he or she can simply walk up to the door and touch the sensor on the door handle to unlock it.
Along with Nissan Intelligent Key, the SV has remote engine start. A button on the key fob can be pressed to start the engine, even if the driver isn't ready to get in jus yet. By starting the engine early, people can get the climate system going as well.
A big reason why the Nissan Rogue has broad appeal is because it has a lot of high-tech components. The S and SV both come with eight-inch touchscreens that have voice recognition, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. They also have Bluetooth and a hands-free text messaging assistant, so drivers can focus more on the road and keep their hands on the wheel.
In the S, there are four speakers. In comparison, the SV has six speakers. Plus, the SV has more USB ports. It has two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports. The S only has one of each type.
With the SV, but not the S, Wi-Fi capability is included. With access to Wi-Fi, it could be easier to stream media content, play online games, and stay in touch with others while traveling. Another component that the SV has is NissanConnect technology, which provides a more seamless connection between a smartphone and the infotainment system. This type of technology also offers automatic collision notification, emergency call services, and a stolen vehicle locator.
The safety packages on these two trims are actually pretty impressive. The Rogue can play an active role in protecting its passengers, thanks to several standard driver-assist technologies. They include forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, and rear cross traffic alert. Drivers will be alerted to various problems so that they can hopefully take the right corrective measures.
If the driver can't respond quickly enough, the Nissan Rogue can take action on its own. It can engage automatic emergency braking if it senses that it's about to hit an object in front of or behind it. Rear automatic braking isn't something that a lot of other vehicles in this class have as a standard feature.
The SV can even correct its steering. This is because it has intelligent lane intervention and intelligent blind spot intervention. It has ProPILOT Assist, too, which is an adaptive cruise control program. This program can make adjustments to the Rogue's speed in order for it to stay a safe distance away from its leading vehicle.
Compare the SV vs SL Trims. What is the difference?
The price jump from the S to the SV is a little less than $2,000, but the price difference between the SV and SL is nearly $5,000. Given this information, it's not a surprise that the SL feels much more refined than the lower trims do.
It looks more sophisticated because of its many extra exterior components. It has LED fog lights and roof rails, and it uses 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. More notably, it has a dual-panel panoramic moonroof that can bring in so much light and change the ambience inside the cabin.
Plus, the liftgate on the SL is motion activated. Instead of having to open it manually or push a button in order to open it, someone just has to kick his/her foot underneath the sensor at the back of the SUV. When the sensor detects this motion, the liftgate will open up automatically. It can be so useful when people's hands are loaded down with items.
Not only does the SL have a power-adjustable driver's seat, but it also has a memory system for that driver's seat. It offers a four-way, power-adjustable front-passenger's seat as well. Both of those front seats are heated, as is the steering wheel, which is wrapped in Prima-Tex. Another big upgrade is that the SL has leather seats.
This trim has been designed with convenience in mind. It has a Divide-N-Hide cargo system so that people can stay more organized, and its rearview mirror can automatically dim if it detects bright lights. Instead of just having automatic climate control with two zones, the SV has three zones. Everyone can stay comfortable, no matter what the temperature is outside.
When it comes to technology, though, the SL has the same package as the SV. However, it can be upgraded with a more advanced system. That system can include Bose speakers, integrated navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and a nine-inch touchscreen. These components are part of the SL Premium Package, which costs about $1,300.
There's only one way in which the safety package of the SL has been enhanced. The SL comes with a 360-degree monitor. Compared with the rear-view monitor, it's much more useful since it shows a greater perspective.

Compare the SL vs Platinum Trim. What is the difference?
From a mechanical standpoint, there's nothing that makes the Platinum distinct from the SL. The same can be said for exterior features. It's only when looking inside the cabins of these two trims that one can tell the difference.
Instead of having regular leather upholstery on its seats, the Platinum has quilted semi-aniline leather upholstery. It looks upscale and sophisticated, just like something a luxury vehicle would have. In addition to having heated front seats, the Platinum has heated rear seats. Further, it has rear-door sunshades that passengers can use to stay cool.
The most significant way in which the Platinum has been improved over the SL has to do with its technology. It has a digital dashboard with digital gauges, whereas the SL has a smaller display that shows important vehicle information. The Platinum comes standard with a nine-inch touchscreen, and that touchscreen has built-in navigation and SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link. Also, the Platinum has wireless Apple CarPlay integration and a Bose premium sound system, which comes with a dual-driver woofer to add more richness to the audio quality.
Other upgrades are found in the Platinum's safety package. Basically, all of the options that can be added onto the SL are standard at the Platinum level. This trim has traffic sign recognition, allowing it to remind drivers of speed limits or changing traffic patterns. It has a sonar system on its front, rear, and sides, which give the vehicle the ability to sense when it's getting too close to objects. If so, it'll emit a warning.
Finally, the Platinum features ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link. This is a spin on adaptive cruise control. The regular ProPILOT Assist program gives the SUV the ability to adjust its speed in order to stay a safe distance behind the vehicle in front of it. ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link uses information from the navigation program as well. This way, the Rogue knows ahead of time when to slow down, such as when it's approaching a sharp turn in the road.
Which Trim to Choose?
Budget is going to play a major role in the decision-making process. Do customers really need all that the SL and Platinum has to offer, and are the extra features worth the additional cost? Obviously, each customer is going to see things differently.
Those who are on more limited budgets will likely be quite pleased with the entry-level S trim. After all, it drives just like all of the other trims do. Importantly, it has several driver-assist technologies along with a large touchscreen with smartphone compatibility. These are the types of things that modern consumers are specifically looking for.
The downside of the S is that it's not as nicely appointed in other areas. For instance, it only has cloth seats, and it doesn't provide heated front seats. If a customer wants to be treated to something a little more elegant, then the SL trim is a great choice.
The SL is still competitively priced, relatively speaking, and it gets to have so many high-end amenities. Its panoramic moonroof, leather seats, 360-degree monitor, and tri-zone automatic climate control are just some examples of things that make the SL feel luxurious. It doesn't have navigation like the Platinum does, but this can be added on if a customer really wants it.
