Why Buy a 2016 Porsche Cayenne?

Should You Buy a 2016 Porsche Cayenne? Here are the Pros and Cons

The lovers of Porsche midsize SUVs are deeply anticipating the coming 2016 Cayenne. Perhaps a host of new features will be thrown in while fixing the older issues like the many button controls on the dashboard and a tiny cargo space at the back. Classified as a midsize luxury SUV, the Porsche Cayenne 2016 will be retailing at $58,000 starting price.

Set to compete beside this mean machine is the 2016 Volvo XC90, an equally classy SUV with reported tweaks and an improvement of its predecessor. Both vehicles are 4dr and work on automatic transmission. So what's more special under the Porsche Cayenne's hood that makes it stand out?

Top 10 Reasons to Buy a 2016 Porsche Cayenne – The Pros

1) Variety of Trims

The 2016 Porsche Cayenne comes out in 6 different 4dr trims; AWD GTS, AWD S, AWD Diesel, AWD Turbo S and AWD Turbo. Choosing from either of these depends on how much power the consumer wants in the car, the fuel economy, and perhaps the going price. All trims will be provided in the same variety of colors.

2) More Colors

The consumer gets a bouquet of color to choose from for the exterior look, just like in the 2015 model. The different hues include Palladium, Peridot, Black, Mahogany, Rhodium Silver, White, Carrara White, Meteor Gray, Jet Black, Moonlight Blue, Carmine Red and Umber. You only get 10 colors to choose on the Volvo XC90, and all of them a neutral laidback tone. For the consumer who loves a colorful car, the Porsche offers more of that.

The exterior designed has been maintained from what was seen on the 2015 model. It has the sophisticated streamline with a chic looking spoiler above the rear window. For anyone who likes how the 2015 posh looked, the 2016 still bears the same level of beauty.

3) Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is well distributed through the different trims of the Porsche 2016 Cayenne. Models on the Lower side, like the AWD 4dr S, manage an EPA of 17city and 24 highway which is quite low if compared to the Volvo. Nonetheless, those on the high side, like the AWD 4dr Diesel model, boast of an EPA of 19 in city cruising and 24 on the highway. The highest side for the Volvo is 20 for city and 25 for highway; one bar higher but Cayenne still has a competitive edge.

4) Suave Interior

Auto writers had to agree that Porsche has taste when it comes to designing sophisticated interiors. The bars that were raised in the 2015 Cayenne were definitely maintained on this; an ample balance of high grade leather, metal and wood. The cabin is spacious with lush comfortable seats that can sit 5. Bucket seats are included for extra sitting space.

5) Great Entertainment Options

For some music, the 2016 Porsche Cayenne has an inbuilt AM-FM radio and HD radio to play favorite tunes while on the move. Also included is a CD player and MP3 player when the driver wants to control their playlist. An auxiliary audio input is included as well when wanting to play music from a photo or an iPod. Additional entertainment features that will be added on request are Satellite radio, CD changer and a premium sound system.

6) High Level Safety Measures Observed

The 2016 Porsche Cayenne observes high safety standards as required of most midsize SUVs designed for luxury. The spacious cabin is fortified with passenger airbags, driver airbags, rear head and body air bags, side head airbags and more airbags securing the remaining sides. Break features include 4-Wheel ABS technology with braking discs installed on all wheels.

More safety reinforcement includes:

  • Traction and Electron Stability Control
  • Headlights with auto-level adjustments
  • Child safe locks
  • Day running Lights
  • Brake assist controls
7) Speed and Power on the Road

Under the hood, the 2016 Porsche Cayenne packs a power of 240hp at 3500 rpm. The drive train is an 8 Speed automatic transmission revving a V6 cylinder engine. Though the Volvo XC90 keeps the pace with an 8 speed automatic, it gets trampled on heavily when it comes in with a mere 4 cylinder engine. The Porsche 2016 Cayenne packs so much power to bolt and still maintains an outstanding fuel economy on and off road.

8) Designed for Comfort and Convenience

The rear is designed with a parking aid camera and remote release trunk. On the front are auto off headlights with rain sensing wipers on the windscreen and rear view mirror. All mirrors are heated and the rear view mirror comes with electrochromic technology for easy viewing. Additional features include:

  • HID headlights
  • Powered Liftgate
  • Trip Computer
  • Fog Sensor lamps
  • Leather Steering Wheel
  • Keyless Entry
  • Interior Cargo Shade
9) State-of-the-Art Ventilation

Inside cabin is an inbuilt A/C and climate control set up. Also include is dual zone A/C that regulates weather when driving through different climate zones. The Volvo XC90 offers the same level of air conditioning comfort with an extra A/C at the back.

10) Reasonably Priced

The Porsche Cayenne 2016 will start at a price of $58,000. The price goes up as more tweaks are added to the car like an EPA upgrade or more power on the engine. The Volvo XC90 will retail at a much lower price at $49,800.

Reasons Not to Buy a 2016 Porsche Cayenne – The Cons

1) Highly Priced

This Porsche may be overly priced compared to the Volvo SUV that is more affordable. What makes it worse is that the Volvo offers more amenities to the driver comparatively.

2) Some Basic Features Missing

The Porsche lacks basics like Satellite radio and a feature like premium sound system that was offered in the 2015 model has been phased out.

3) Nothing Much has Changed

Compared to the 2015 model, there is not that much change. The design is still the same inside and outside. Some features have been omitted as well which reduces the competitive edge of this midsize SUV.

Conclusion

The 2016 Porsche Cayenne is still a worthy car to drive on the road for the driver who will appreciate the same features on the predecessor. But for the consumer looking to spend less next year but get more features, it may be hard settling for the 2016 Cayenne.
