Although the 2019 Toyota Sienna hasn't been redesigned in quite a while, it still ranks among today's best minivans. A spacious, comfortable cabin helps keep your family happy for hours at a time. Furthermore, the 2019 Toyota Sienna remains the only minivan on the market that currently offers all-wheel drive. Great long-term reliability and excellent resale value have always been strong points for the Sienna.

While the new 2019 Toyota Sienna may look mostly unchanged, its Entune infotainment system now boasts Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa smartphone integration. A total of five Sienna trims are available: L, LE, SE, XLE and Limited. Let's see how they compare.

Compare the 2019 Toyota Sienna L vs LE Trim Levels. What is the difference?

The base Sienna L is designed to catch the attention of budget-minded buyers. Nevertheless, it does come standard with a good number of features. Everyone will enjoy the standard Wi-Fi hot spot, which is powered by Verizon. Some of the other standard technology includes Toyota's updated Entune interface with a 7.0-inch touch screen, five USB ports, a backup camera, and a navigation app. You can also get the Sienna L with an Auto Access Seat, which helps passengers with physical disabilities to get in and out of the minivan.

Like every new 2019 Toyota Sienna, the L trim is motivated by a 296-horsepower V6. This engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. You can only get the base L trim with front-wheel drive.

Fortunately, you don't have to pay extra for Toyota Safety Sense. This advanced safety package comes standard throughout the lineup. It provides pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.

Although the Sienna LE may not seem like a huge upgrade over the base Sienna L, it does come equipped with some convenient features. Parents will love the LE trim's quick-clean cloth upholstery, which is great for messy toddlers. You will also grow to appreciate the Sienna LE's power sliding doors. They make the task of transporting your family even easier. Manual second- and third-row sunshades help further enhance comfort. An eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, satellite radio, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are found on the LE trim as well. For an extra $1,000, you can get blind-spot monitoring and proximity keyless entry.

In contrast to the base L model, the Sienna LE can be equipped with all-wheel drive. This feature gives the Sienna an advantage over virtually every competitor. It's a must for the folks who drive in the snow.

Compare the 2019 Sienna LE vs SE Trims. What is the difference?

If you are seeking a sportier drive, step up to the Sienna SE. In contrast to the Sienna LE, the Sienna SE features sports-tuned suspension dampers for more controlled handling. You'll also enjoy the SE trim's quicker steering system. This year, all-wheel drive is now an option on the SE trim.

On the inside, the Sienna SE boasts a few more luxurious upgrades, including heated front seats and leather upholstery. A power tailgate makes loading stuff a bit easier. Meanwhile, race-inspired gauges add to the SE trim's sporty character. A power sunroof is optional.

You'll immediately notice the SE trim's sportier exterior styling. A larger set of 19-inch alloy wheels and a mesh grille give the Sienna SE a more exciting look. Rear underbody spoilers also accentuate the Sienna SE's sleek profile.

Compare the Sienna SE vs SE Premium Trim Levels. What is the difference?

These models are equally as sporty. The Sienna SE Premium is essentially a more luxurious version of the Sienna SE. It adds Toyota's Easy Speak system, which makes communicating with your rear passengers a bit easier. Meanwhile, kids will be thankful for the SE Premium's Blu-ray entertainment system. Some of the SE Premium trim's other goodies include a powerful JBL stereo system, blind-spot monitoring, and keyless entry.

Compare the Sienna SE Premium vs XLE Trims. What is the difference?

The Sienna LE goes without the SE Premium trim's sports-tuned suspension and steering system. Think of the Sienna XLE as a better equipped version of the lower LE trim. It adds a power-adjustable passenger seat, power-opening rear-quarter windows, and a sunroof. Blind-spot monitoring comes standard as well. Features, such as the JBL premium sound system, are also found on the XLE trim. Parking sensors and navigation with real-time traffic updates are optional.

Compare the 2019 Sienna XLE vs Limited Trim Levels. What is the difference?

Atop the Sienna range sits the Limited trim. It's the only Sienna model that features front and rear sunroofs. Lounge seats enable your second-row passengers to experience even more comfort. Upgraded leather upholstery helps give the Sienna Limited an especially luxurious feel. A heated steering wheel is also found inside the Sienna Limited.

If you still crave more luxury, take advantage of the Sienna XLE's optional Limited Premium package. While a 360-degree camera enhances your visibility in parking areas, xenon headlights help better illuminate the street at night. A rear entertainment system is also included in this package.

There area few special styling cues on the Sienna Limited. The most noticeable difference is the Limited model's exclusive wheels. Turn signal indicators are also found on the exterior mirrors.

Which Trim Level to Choose?

It's hard not to recommend the budget-friendly Sienna L. Although the Sienna L may lack some high-end features, it will more than satisfy most families. While a total of five USB ports help everyone to keep their electronic devices fully juiced, a Wi-Fi hot spot provides a quick link to the internet. You will also appreciate the Sienna L's muscular V6 engine, which develops class-leading horsepower. Of course, the L trim's standard Toyota Safety Sense package is a major stress reliever.

Aside from providing conveniences like power-sliding rear doors and easy-clean cloth upholstery, the LE trim allows you to opt for all-wheel drive. It's only slightly more expensive that the base L model.

If you find the other drivers to be a bit boring to drive, check out the SE trim. Its performance upgrades to a great job of promoting better handling. Sharp exterior styling also makes the SE trim an appealing option. For the drivers who want more luxury, Toyota offers the pricer SE Premium trim. It comes loaded with nice features like a powerful JBL sound system and an entertainment system for your rear passengers. If you think the SE Premium trim is beyond your budget, stick with the SE trim to save money.

Before spending your hard-earned cash on the top-of-the-line Sienna Limited, take a close look at the lower trims. You may find the XLE trim to be a better bang for the buck.

2019 Toyota Sienna Key Features

As mentioned earlier, the new 2019 Toyota Sienna is currently the only minivan on the market that offers all-wheel drive. It greatly enhances traction in slushy weather. However, most drivers will be perfectly fine with the standard FWD system. Not only does the AWD system significantly lower fuel economy, but it also increases the Sienna's sticker price.

All versions of the 2019 Toyota Sienna come standard with an Entune infotainment system. It's easy to use and now benefits from Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa. Unfortunately, Android Auto smartphone integration is still absent on Toyota's Entune interface. Some users have also complained about the screen's poor visibility in the sun. Furthermore, you can't get this infotainment system with a larger touch screen. A 7.0-inch display is found throughout the lineup.

The Toyota Sienna's comfort-tuned suspension feels especially soft on the highway. This is good news for the drivers who like to travel. If you desire sharper handling around curves, go for either the Sienna SE or the Sienna SE Premium. These models come standard with sports-tuned shocks and a quicker steering system. Although you will experience a slightly stiffer ride, it's far from being unpleasant.

As you know, kids tend to lose their patience on lengthy road trips. If you happen to do a lot of long-distance traveling with your family, consider getting the rear entertainment system. Although this feature is a pricey upgrade, it'll definitely help alleviate boredom. While the rear entertainment system only features a single 16.4-inch display, there's a split-view function for the screen. This helps prevent children from fighting over using the entertainment system. Two AC power outlets and wireless headphones are included.

Luckily, Toyota gives Sienna buyers are extra peace of mind by equipping every trim with an advanced safety package. While blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is extra, it's certainly a feature worth getting. You'll be able to switch lanes with an extra measure of assurance. On the downside, Toyota only offers a 360-degree camera on the range-topping Limited model as an option.

If you have a family member who has physical limitations, don't hesitate to get the available Auto Access Seat. This special seat rotates 90 degrees and lowers for easier exciting. It also makes entering the Sienna a lot easier. Furthermore, Toyota engineered the Auto Access Seat to accommodate child safety seats.
