What’s New for 2017?
With an all-new model scheduled to be released in the near future, no notable changes have been made for 2017.
What Styles Does It Come In?
All versions of the 2017 BMW M5 come in the form of a four-door sedan. Under the hood sits a turbocharged V-8 engine, which churns out a staggering 560 horsepower. However, and optional Competition package enables the engine to develop an additional 15 horsepower. You can choose either a seven-speed automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels.
What Are the Available Trims?
The 2017 BMW M5 only comes in a single trim. A special body kit and quad tailpipes help make the M5 look more aggressive than the regular 5 Series sedan. Some of the standard equipment includes 20-way sport seats, a 10.2-inch display screen, and a Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system.
- Executive Package
The Executive package is for the drivers who demand an elevated level of luxuriousness. While adaptive LED headlights enhance nighttime visibility, ventilated seats provide a more relaxing driving experience. Soft-close doors also come with the package
- Driver Assistance Plus Package
This package provides a long list of high-tech driving aids, including automatic braking and pedestrian detection.
- Competition Package
Performance-hungry drivers will appreciate the Competition package. It comes with a more aggressive suspension and a free-flowing exhaust system. A special engine tune sweetens the deal.
A 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds enables the 2017 BMW M5 to race past the average sports sedan. Aside from the sedan’s blazing acceleration, it is also incredibly poised on the road. Although the automatic transmission shifts quickly, the manual gearbox rewards you with an even sportier driving experience. The standard brakes are incredibly powerful. While the M5 is clearly built to perform, it is still comfortable enough for long-distance traveling.
Expect the manual version of the M5 to average around 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The automatic transmission slightly lowers the sedan’s fuel economy. You will need to burn premium unleaded gas.
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base BMW M5 invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)
Note: All BMW M5 Prices above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
