The 2019 Buick Enclave has on a few minor upgrades this year as it still benefits from the redesign of last year. The Enclave has a good amount of tech to complement an already long list of bonuses. All trims come in either all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, except for the Preferred; this trim only comes in all-wheel-drive mode.
Regardless of the version you choose, you will have a cabin undisturbed by road noise, and that can house seven passengers at a time. The Enclave is one of the biggest vehicles of its segment, with both roominess and comfort as strengths. Maximizing cargo space gets you a whopping 97.6 cubic feet.
The 2019 Buick Enclave isn't the only massive, domineering unit you'll find in the segment, but there are still reasons to choose it over competitors. The main reason would be the sheer abundance of available features, even on the base trim. For example, every trim gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a hands-free liftgate, and keyless entry.
Though some of its overseas rivals hug the road better, the Enclave offers a roomy cabin, a quiet time on the highway, and plenty of features.
The 2019 Buick Enclave isn't very different from last year's, which was the introduction for the second generation Enclave. The only difference is that there are new Preferred trim slots beneath the Essence that only have front-wheel drive.
The 2019 Buick Enclave is a mid-size luxury SUV, and you'll get the most value from the Essence. This trim gets the best of technology standard across all tiers but also adds safety functions and leather seating.
You can get the 2019 Buick Enclave in four different trims: Preferred, Essence, Premium, and Avenir. In all cases, they seat seven passengers and use a 3.6L V6 engine coupled with a nine-speed auto transmission. The duo produces 302 horses and 260 pound-feet.
The base trim only comes in front-wheel drive, but the rest can be swapped to all-wheel drive instead. On the Essence, you'll see more comfort and safety features, while the Premium is more about luxury. Finally, the Avenir has everything from the bottom tiers as well as the promises of other luxury crossovers.
Even before you add any upgrades, the 2019 Buick Enclave Preferred has plenty of features that keep it competitive in its class. For example, 60/40-split folding third-row seats, power-adjustable front seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control all serve as strong creature comforts. Other convenience upgrades include remote engine start, keyless entry, keyless ignition, and adjustable second-row captain's chairs. As mentioned, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration begin right at the base trim, and they're accompanied by six USB ports and an 8-inch touchscreen. Finally, enjoy satellite radio through the six-speaker sound system.
Moving up to the Essence gives you all the base trim's features and other upgrades. Leather seating surfaces and a cabin air ionization system offer more comfort, while rear cross-traffic alert and a blind-spot monitoring system provide a big jump in safety. This is the first trim where you can switch to all-wheel drive, enabling your 2019 Buick Enclave to tow up to 5,000 pounds. With this massive tow package, you also get a sunroof and a top-down parking camera system.
With the Premium, you gain even more safety features, like front parking sensors, lane departure warning and intervention, and pedestrian detection with low-speed forward collision reduction. For added comfort in the cold, you'll get heated seats for the outboard second-row passengers and a heated steering wheel. Power-folding third-row seats and driver-seat memory settings add a little more luxury to the experience. The music sounds even greater through a 10-speaker premium Bose sound system, too.
On the top of the ladder, you'll find the Avenir driving by on 20-inch wheels and sporting a sunroof. You'll get the navigation system available for Essence and Premium, but for free. With the Avenir, you also get a rearview mirror with integrated camera display, premium leather upholstery, a more prominent info display, and a wireless charging pad for your devices. The Avenir Tech package is exclusive to this tier, and with it, you'll get an adaptive suspension, adaptive cruise control, and better auto emergency braking.
The 2019 Buick Enclave comes with a V6 engine that thrusts well as you speed up, but it eventually tapers off when you reach higher revolution rates. It takes about 7 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour, but that's average for the segment. Likewise, handling is what you'd expect for a three-row SUV.
The Enclave has active noise canceling technology that allows passengers to enjoy a ride free from powertrain, wind, and road noise. All trims have automatic tri-zone climate control as a standard feature, and all above the base get an air ionizer. Combine all this with the optional adaptive suspension, and the Enclave offers one of the smoothest SUV rides ever.
Passengers in the second and third rows won't cry for more legroom in the 2019 Enclave. Thanks to a tilt-up second-row seat, it's easy to get in and out of the third row, too, even if you have a child seat installed.
Folding down all the seats gives you a large load floor with max cargo space at 97.6 cubic feet. Roof rails are standard, and they can handle bulky items with ease.

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Buick Enclave invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)
Note: All Buick Enclave MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
