The 2019 Cadillac CT6 is the company's flagship full-size luxury sedan. Its style is aggressive, and it stands out from the competing luxury models offered by European and Asian car manufacturers. The CT6 is not only luxurious, but it delivers impressive power and handling for a full-sized sedan. The Cadillac offers a thrilling ride and an optional hands-free driving feature that makes it a good buy compared to other top-tier sedans.
What’s New for 2019?
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 has a newly-designed body that attracts attention. The standard engine and transmission have been updated to a new 3.6L V6 and the 10-speed automatic transmission is also new. The offerings at higher trim levels have been upgraded, and a more powerful CT6-V will become available later in 2019. Some features of the 2016 model are being brought back in 2019. Some of the standard features in 2019 were only available as options in previous years.
Performance and Handling
The base engine is a six-cylinder 3.6L beast that delivers 355 hp. The 10-speed automatic transmission is enhanced with electronic precision shift technology to provide an excellent acceleration curve. The acceleration beats out some of the other high-end sedans. The available turbo-charged engine produces 404 hp and catapults the driver from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds.
Steering responsiveness can be modified by selecting the sport mode. In the default mode, the maneuvering feels light and satisfyingly accurate. The body roll allows the driver to feel the size and length of the vehicle, and the ride is more restrained than the Cadillac CTS that this model is based on. The CT6 gets 24 miles per gallon in the city and 34 mpg on the highway with the base engine.
The transmission provides an intuitive feel throughout acceleration that pours on power at the high end. The braking of the CT6 is firm and easy to control, even though the sedan weighs in at a hefty 4,400 pounds. For a luxury sedan, the stopping distance is surprisingly short, decelerating from 60 mph to a full stop in only 102 feet.
The interior of the 2019 Cadillac CT6 is spacious and well-appointed. The cabin is quiet and the front and, with the Platinum trim package, the rear seats are equipped with massage settings that make long trips more bearable. The wide front seats offer plenty of space to stretch out for long commutes. The rear seats are exceptionally comfortable, and they are also equipped with massage capabilities with the platinum trim package.
When driving on the highway, there is very little audible sound from the road, wind or tires. The climate control performs very well. The fan is quiet and the system is manipulated via a touchscreen interface. Additional dials and analog controls are also located below the screen. The back seat area has its own controls for climate settings, and there is seat cooling and heating for both the front and rear with the platinum trim package.
The CT6 excels in high-tech, user-friendly features. The "Cadillac User Experience" infotainment system is upgraded for the 2019 models. The icons on the touchscreen are larger and more intuitive, and the menu system is easier to navigate. The 10.2-inch display is beautiful and responds quickly.
The premium 8-speaker Bose audio system wraps you in high-quality sound. The CT6 offers all the smartphone integration that you could want, and there are many USB ports accessible in the front and rear seating areas. Wireless charging and Bluetooth connectivity are also standard features.
Trim Levels and Upgraded Features
The Cadillac CT6 comes in four trim levels that are described below.
2019 Cadillac CT6 Luxury

2019 Cadillac CT6 Premium Luxury
The next step up in trim levels gives the buyer a 10-speaker audio system with surround sound. The front seats are adjustable in 16 ways with 4-way power lumber support. This trim level also comes with a power sunroof, braking and parking assistance and the wheels are upgraded to 19"-alloy with a nickel finish.
2019 Cadillac CT6 Sport
The Sport trim upgrades the engine to a 3.0L turbocharged V6 that delivers 404 horsepower. The car has a sport grille, a rear spoiler and 19" wheels with a machined midnight-silver finish. Other aesthetic features include ground lighting effects and carbon fiber trim on the inside.
2019 Cadillac CT6 Platinum
With the top trim level, the driver gets the Super Cruise Driver Assistance system that works with OnStar. Other features include magnetic ride control and 20 adjustment variables for the front seats. The front and rear are equipped with ventilated, heated and cooled seating. The top-tier audio system consists of no less than 34 speakers that deliver unprecedented sound immersion.
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Cadillac CT6 invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)
Note: All Cadillac CT6 MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
