Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Overview:

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD is a heavy-duty truck that has increased hauling and towing capacity compared to the Chevy Silverado 1500. It is a powerful, full-sized, heavy-duty work truck that can tow 14,800 pounds and haul 3,200 pounds with the standard engine. Rugged on the outside, one can opt for luxurious appointments on the inside, such as leather seating, wood-like paneling, and an integrated infotainment system. The cabin is even soundproofed.

Chevrolet has maintained their winning design of the Silverado 2500HD from the prior model year.

Powertrain

As in the prior year's model, one has a choice of the Vortec 6.0-liter V8 or the Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V8 engine. The Vortec can tow 14,000 pounds and comes in at 360 horsepower. The Duramax can tow 15,400 pounds and is a 445-horsepower engine. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD is a serious, heavy-duty truck that will not let you down when it comes to towing and hauling. The transmission for the Vortec V8 is a standard six-speed automatic, while the Duramax diesel engine comes standard with the Allison six-speed automatic transmission.

The Vortec can be purchased as a bi-fuel engine, so one can run their Silverado 2500HD on gasoline, liquid propane, or natural gas.

Trailering and Safety Enhancements

When towing heavy loads, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD provides features that are technologically advanced to help aid the driver to safely tow the load by detecting and correcting errors, such as a trailer sway control that detects when the trailer begins swaying and applies both the trailer and truck brakes. Also, braking via the transmission is initiated when the driver is on a long downhill. Options include a “trailering camera” that provides guide lines for backing and hitching a trailer, and a trailer brake controller to help drivers manage their tow loads safely.

Also, built in to the Silverado 2500HD are ABS brakes and rotors by Duralife, a collision alert in advance of an imminent front collision, a warning when one is no longer in the lane of traffic and assistance for front and rear parking.

All of these safety features make the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD safe and easy to drive for all licensed drivers in the family.

Trim Levels

There are four trim levels available for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD. The Silverado 2500HD 4WD comes in either a standard bed at 6 feet 5 inches or a long bed that is 8 feet 2 inches. The latter is a great choice for a larger cabover camper. The Silverado also comes in a double-cab or a crew-cab. Every trim level has the Vortec V8 engine as standard with the Duramax Diesel engine as an option.

The four trim levels are:

WT – This is the work truck version. It comes standard with 17-inch steel wheels and a rear differential that locks automatically. It is also equipped with a rearview camera, air conditioning, power window and door locks, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is Bluetooth and six speakers. Options include OnStar, satellite radio and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A custom package is also optional that will up the wheel size to 20 inches and provide trim upgrades.

LT – The LT trim has alloy wheels. The mirrors are power-driven. There is a keyless entry system. The tailgate can lock remotely. The upholstery is cloth. The steering wheel is leather, and the interior flooring is carpeted. OnStar, satellite radio, and a CD player are standard. There is an electronic transfer case controller and an EZ Lift and Lower tailgate. The infotainment screen becomes 8 inches diagonally.

LTZ – The LTZ trim ups the wheel size to 18 inches. They are made of a chrome alloy. The exterior has other chrome detailing. Also added to the LTZ package are fog lights and a rear window that has a defogger. This trim package has remote engine start for cold mornings, leather upholstery, heated seats in the front cab area, a 110-volt power outlet, and a wiring harness for a trailer along with a trailer brake controller.

High Country – The top trim level jumps the wheel size to 20 inches, provides all-terrain tires and adds a side step to help one access the truck bed. The front and rear bumpers match the Silverado's body color. The bedliner comes sprayed in, and the leather upholstery is accompanied by ventilated front seats. The steering wheel is heated, and there is wireless cell phone charging, Bose audio, and navigation. The Driver Alert package is standard with lane departure and forward collision alerts in addition to parking sensors.

Often, if one prefers to add a feature on a lower trim level, one can add it as an option. The Z71 Off-Road package, tow mirrors, infotainment for the rear seating, a sunroof, a tonneau cover and fifth-wheel hitch can be added as other options.

The Driving Experience

The soundproofing makes the drive quiet, more so than you would expect from a heavy-duty truck. The acceleration is very good for such a large vehicle. The towing and hauling capacity are massive. The interior is comfortable, and the appointments are stylish. There is quite a bit of interior storage area. Safety enhancements provide peace of mind to newcomers to big trucks or towing.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD is a powerful and robust work truck that can haul heavy loads yet provides luxury interior appointments, safety enhancements, and a great infotainment system. Test drive the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD today.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
