How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is a full-size, heavy-duty truck. It's basically the big brother to Chevy's Silverado 1500. The 2500HD is just designed to be able to tow more, haul more and to tackle the toughest jobs. This version of the Silverado is classified as a three-quarter-ton truck, but this is something of a misnomer. The Silverado 2500HD can handle significantly more weight than that.
What’s New for 2022?
There are only a few minor changes to this pickup truck for 2022. The Silverado's unique Multi-Flex Tailgate is now an option for every trim level. The Custom models can now have power-adjustable front seats added on. There's also a new exterior paint color that Chevrolet calls Greenstone Metallic.
Styles and Configurations
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is available in a number of different body styles and configurations. There's a Regular Cab version of this truck with two doors and no real space for rear passengers. The available Double Cab adds a small backseat area with fold-out seats. This cab style gets two half-sized rear doors that open in reverse.
The largest available interior comes from the Crew Cab models. This configuration gets a large backseat area and can accommodate up to six people. It also gets four full-sized doors for easy access to all of the seats. The Silverado 2500HD comes in Standard and Long Bed variations. These have cargo-bed lengths of 82.35 inches and 98.27 inches, respectively.
There are two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variations of the Silverado 2500HD. One can purchase this truck with a dual-rear-wheel axle setup to increase the payload capacity. Chevy offers both gasoline and diesel powertrain options. The Silverado 2500HD is only available with an automatic transmission.
Performance and Fuel Economy
When it comes to performance, this is one strong truck. The Silverado 2500HD can tow a whopping 18,510 pounds. It has an available 910 pound-feet of torque from the optional V8 turbo-diesel engine. With the right configuration, it can haul a 7,442-pound load in the cargo bed.
Chevrolet also offers a standard V8 gasoline engine. This motor is capable of 401 horsepower. Drivers should see around 14 miles-per-gallon with this engine. Fuel efficiency will vary a bit depending on the drive-train and body style. The diesel engine is the most efficient choice, coming in at around 5 miles-per-gallon more than the gasoline engine.
Steering dynamics and handling are solid with this truck. Braking power is excellent, and automatic transmission does a good job of regulating the speed. This is important for a truck that's built for heavy hauling and towing. Both the steering and automatic shifting are accurate. Every model gets a robust suspension system that can handle road bumps as well as off-road terrain.
The ride quality will depend on which trim level one chooses. A stripped-down truck meant primarily for work won't be quite as comfortable as a fully-loaded High Country model. At the top of the trim levels, one can configure a 2500HD with rich upholstery, cozy seats and plenty of modern comfort features.
For the exterior, buyers can get factory-installed assist steps. Higher trim levels can opt for chrome-covered steps. LED reflector headlights, turn signals and taillights are all available. There's also LED lighting for the cargo box, so it's easier to load and unload after the sun goes down.
Chevy's EZ-Lift Assist can be added to the tailgate to make life easier. There's also an available trailering package for the 2500HD. This includes a hitch, the hitch receiver and a wiring harness with a 7-pin connector. This allows the driver to connect the trailer lights to the vehicle for a safer towing experience.
While the base model comes with manually adjustable seats, higher trim levels get 10-way power seats up front. Rich, perforated leather is also available for those seats. A bed-view camera allows the driver to keep an eye on their precious cargo. An available dual-zone, automatic climate-control system keeps everyone comfortable in hot or cold weather.
The Silverado 2500HD's infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touchscreen display. There's a stock AM/FM stereo, and music can be streamed through the system via Bluetooth. Personal settings can be saved to the Cloud, and the system is compatible with Apple's CarPlay. Android users have nothing to worry about, it's compatible with the Auto app as well.
Voice Recognition tech means that users can operate many of the functions with a simple word. Music aficionados will appreciate the available premium sound system by Bose. This includes a total of seven speakers, as well as a woofer for realistic bass sounds.
No matter which trim level one chooses, it will be equipped with six airbags. There are two up front with two supplemental, side-impact bags for even more protection. There are also head-curtain airbags that add a level of protection for all seat positions.
A Collision-Alert system gives the driver a heads up if they're about to crash into the vehicle in front of them. This tech can also act as a tailgate warning when the driver is following a vehicle too closely.
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is a solid choice in the crowded field of full-size, heavy-duty trucks. It's capable, versatile and tough. It's perfect as a work vehicle or as a daily driver.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
