If anyone is looking for a tough, durable truck, the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD should be able to get the job done. It's in a class with few competitors, and it shines in the areas of performance and capability. This truck also comes with some nice available amenities, such as advanced technology and safety components as well as features that can make the cabin more comfortable.
Configurations
Before selecting a specific trim, it's important that customers understand what their options are in terms of configuration. The Silverado 3500HD can come with a long bed or a standard bed, and it can have a regular cab, a double cab, or a crew cab.
The long bed measures 98.27 inches, making it quite large. It's available with all three types of cabin configurations. The standard bed is 82.25 inches long, and it can only be matched with the crew cab.
A regular cab just has one row of seats, so this would only work for some customers. The double cab has a back row, which offers 35.24 inches of leg room. This isn't a huge amount of space, but it's really not that bad. However, the crew cab is the one to pick if anyone wants to maximize interior space. It comes with a very generous 43.4 inches of leg room.
Then, there's the choice of 2WD or 4WD. They each have their advantages. If anyone wants to maximize stability, there's also the option of getting dual rear wheels. Keep in mind that the only type of configuration that doesn't allow for dual rear wheels is the crew cab with the standard bed.
Engine and Capability
Chevy has made two engines available with this truck. The first is a 6.6-liter V8 gas-powered engine. It can make 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The other engine is also a V8 with a displacement of 6.6 liters. The difference is that it's a turbo-diesel. As such, it has great power with 910 pound-feet of torque. It can make 445 horsepower.
There are quite a few possibilities for the 3500's towing capacity. That's because the engine and other mechanical components are going to affect this number. When it's fully equipped and optimized to haul heavy loads, this truck can tow up to 36,000 pounds. Many would agree that this is the main reason why the 3500HD is so highly coveted amongst customers who have big tasks that they need to handle.
Exterior Features
The size of the Silverado 3500HD helps it make a strong first impression. It has a bold front grille with the Chevrolet logo featured in the middle, and it has the word "Chevrolet" molded onto it. It can either have halogen or LED headlamps, and it's available with LED fog lights and black or chrome assist steps. Those assist steps can be power-retractable versions on the higher trims. This truck can ride on 17-, 18-, or 20-inch wheels; there are a few different designs to choose from.
At the back of the truck, there could be a multi-flex tailgate. This tailgate has six functions to make it easier to load, unload, and access the cargo box. It has a power lock and release. If someone doesn't choose to get the multi-flex tailgate, there's the option to get a tailgate with an EZ lift assist function. Another useful feature is the standard CornerStep rear bumper. This consists of a textured step pad that's been integrated into each corner of the rear bumper.
In addition, the cargo bed comes standard with tie-downs and lighting. To make the bed more durable, a Chevytec spray-on bedliner can be applied. It's a non-skid surface that permanently bonds to the truck bed.
There are a lot of ways to customize the 3500HD. For example, if someone plans on adding on a snow plow in the winter, the truck can come with heavy-duty front springs, under body skid plates, and a power feed. If a customer wants to hit the trails in this truck, the 3500HD can be set up with skid plates and an off-road suspension with twin tube shocks.
Interior Features
In regards to the features that are found inside the cabin of a Silverado 3500HD, there is a wide range of options. Take the WT, which is the base trim, as an example. It has a manually adjustable driver's seat, vinyl seat material, and standard climate control. It does, though come with a seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
On the opposite end is the High Country. It has a ten-way power-adjustable seat with power lumbar support, and it has a ten-way power-adjustable front-passenger seat. There are perforated-leather seats, and the steering wheel is wrapped in leather, too. This trim features a Bose premium sound system and has an eight-inch touchscreen with navigation as well as an eight-inch digital display behind its steering wheel. Its other high-tech elements include wireless charging, Wi-Fi connectivity, and SiriusXM.
Higher trims have the advantage of the lower ones in one more way, which has to do with their safety systems. The High Country trim comes standard with a parking distance indicator ad surround vision. Chevrolet hasn't given the 3500HD standard driver-assist technologies, but they are available. These systems include rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking.
How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)
Note: All Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
