How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Chevrolet Trailblazer

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Chevrolet Trailblazer invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Chevrolet Trailblazer Overview:

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a compact SUV with room for five people. The Trailblazer is only available in one body style. It has four doors and a liftgate for the cargo area. There's a maximum cargo volume of 54.4 cubic-feet with the rear seats folded down.

The latest Trailblazer is available with two different power-train options. Every trim level is available with either FWD (front-wheel drive) or AWD (all-wheel drive). A Trailblazer equipped with AWD offers respectable off-road capabilities.

What's New for 2022?

For 2022, the Trailblazer will be available in four all-new metallic colors. Chevy calls these Mahogany Red, Crimson, Vivid Orange and Blue Glow. A new trailering package is available, complete with a hitch and wiring harness. The Trailblazer can now be ordered with dealer-installed cross rails for the roof rack. Several trim levels now come stock with a heated steering wheel.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The standard engine for every trim level is an ECOTEC 1.3-liter model with a turbocharger. This engine produces 155 horsepower with 174 pound-feet of torque. Depending on the trim level, there will be a 9-speed automatic transmission or a continuously variable transmission. Trailblazers equipped with this engine have an EPA-estimated, combined fuel-economy rating of 28 miles-per-gallon.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is also available with a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine. This motor cranks out 137 horses and 162 pound-feet of torque. The 1.2-liter engine is slightly more fuel efficient. It offers a combined fuel-economy rating of 30 miles-per-gallon.

Driving Impressions

Steering is quick and accurate inside of a Trailblazer. It has solid handling and good body control. Chevy's Stabilitrak system adds impressive stability and traction to this vehicle. Choosing a model with AWD improves the handling and steering dynamics even further. The Trailblazer handles itself quite well on slick or wet pavement and can even tackle some light off-road duties.

Exterior and Interior Features

On the outside, the Trailblazer has available 17-inch machined-face aluminum wheels and sport-terrain tires. Most trims come stock with halogen headlights and taillights, but LED lights are available as well. Roof-mounted side rails and cross-rails add some additional cargo space.

On the inside, higher trim levels of the Trailblazer get a 10-way power driver's seat with power-adjustable lumbar support. The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System offers a 7-inch touchscreen display. This can be upgraded to the Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch touchscreen. Both versions have Bluetooth and Voice-Recognition Technology.

Alexa is built into the infotainment system. It's also compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Music lovers can opt for a premium stereo and speaker system by Bose.

Safety Features

Every model of the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer comes equipped with 10 airbags. There's a Tire-Pressure Monitor to make sure the tires aren't dangerously overinflated or underinflated. The Rear-Vision Camera provides a good view of whatever is behind the Trailblazer. The Rear Park Assist makes it easier to back into tight spaces.

The Forward-Collision Alert provides a heads-up if there's an impending front crash. Automatic Emergency Braking kicks in to help the vehicle to stop in time during emergency situations. A Lane-Keep Assist with Lane-Departure Warning keeps the driver aiming straight ahead within the safety of their own lane.

Trim Level Comparisons

The base model of the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer is called the LS. This model comes equipped with the 1.3-liter turbocharged engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Both FWD and AWD models are available. It gets the standard Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system with a 7-inch screen and a six-speaker audio setup. A basic AM/FM stereo and amplifier are included here.

Moving up to the LT trim level adds on Remote Start and Keyless Open. Lumbar support is added to the driver's seat. This trim level gets a few extra options for interior color schemes. The next trim level is called the ACTIV. It's a bit more off-road capable and includes skid plates and a dual-outlet exhaust.

The suspension system for the ACTIV gets some upgrades. It's now fine-tuned specifically for better off-road performance. This model gets a set of glossy-black aluminum wheels. The headlights and taillights get upgraded to LED models for this trim level. The front- and rear-lower fascias are now titanium and covered with chrome.

The ACTIV has a few interior upgrades as well. The steering wheel and shift knob now come wrapped in leather. The rear area gets a center armrest. The upholstery is upgraded from simple cloth to leatherette.

The final, top-tier trim level for the Trailblazer is called the RS model. This model loses the off-road upgrades such as the skid plates and enhanced suspension system. It gains a set of 18-inch glossy-black aluminum wheels. These come attached to a set of all-season tires. This model, in general, is more about comfort and convenience than performance.

The top trim level gets access to the optional Bose sound system. It comes with the top-tier infotainment system too. It's interesting to note here that the safety features and driver-assist technology stays basically consistent from trim to trim.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a great little SUV that's both practical to own and fun to drive. It offers a good amount of passenger space and cargo room. It's a versatile vehicle with a lot of options for customization. Potential buyers really can't go wrong with any of the four different trim levels.

Note: All Chevrolet Trailblazer MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
