In a world where SUVs rule the road, there's still a need for the minivan. In fact, minivans are often better when it comes to hauling around people and cargo. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is a solid entry in this vehicle class. The Pacifica has room for up to seven people and 140.5 cubic-feet of cargo space. It also offers strong engine performance and excellent handling.
What’s New for 2021?
The Chrysler Pacifica gets a complete makeover for 2021. On the outside, there's a new grille. The headlights and taillights get a modern redesign. The rear liftgate has some cosmetic changes. Last of all, there are some all-new wheel designs.
On the inside of the Pacifica, there's an upgraded infotainment system with a huge 10.1-inch display screen. A new interior camera will allow drivers to keep tabs on their rear-seat passengers. This feature will be fantastic for parents with younger children. The option for all-wheel drive will be available to several trim levels.
Body Styles and Configurations
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica only comes in one body style. It's a four-door mini-van with a rear liftgate for the cargo area. This is a three-row mini-van with tons of interior space. The second and third rows can be folded down for extra cargo room. The Pacifica is available as a gasoline-powered vehicle or as a hybrid.
The Pacifica comes in all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive configurations. LED headlights, taillights and fog lights are all available. Heated exterior mirrors can be added on for quick defrosting. Buyers can opt for a sunroof or add on roof rails for some additional storage space.
The Pacifica features the Uconnect 5 infotainment system. The large touchscreen display allows the user to customize the home page and graphics. There is integration here for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Alexa. Smartphones and other devices can be charged or connected through numerous USB ports. There is also Bluetooth technology for connecting and for streaming music.
The infotainment system offers a Wi-Fi hotspot. Voice-Command Technology and a navigation system are included here as well. The audio setup has a total of up to 18 speakers depending on your trim level. There is an AM/FM stereo, HD radio and a CD player. The rear-seat passengers can have an entertainment system with multiple screens and a Blu-Ray player.
The standard 3.6-liter V6 engine of the Pacifica produces 287 horsepower. That's enough power to get you from 0 to 60 miles-per-hour in just 7.3 seconds. That's not bad for a mini-van. The hybrid model is more fuel efficient but provides a little less power. It comes in at around 260 horsepower. That shaves about half of a second off of its 0-to-60 time.
Steering and handling is a real strong point for the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica. It offers some of the best driving dynamics of any mini-van currently in production. Steering is accurate and responsive. There is a tight turning radius that makes maneuvering the Pacifica easy and fun. Things get even better when driving a Pacifica equipped with all-wheel drive. This improves handling even further and makes the Pacifica a safer vehicle to drive on wet or slick pavement.
A Pacifica equipped with the V6 engine has a fuel-economy rating of 19 miles-per-gallon in the city and 28 miles-per-gallon on the highway. Those are great numbers, but the hybrid model fares even better. Chrysler estimates that the hybrid offers the equivalent of 80 miles-per-gallon when using both gasoline and electricity. The hybrid has an electric-only range of 32 miles. It can cover an impressive 510 miles with a full charge and a full tank of gas.
The Chrysler Pacifica comes with eight standard airbags. Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking uses sensors in the front of the vehicle to prevent hitting pedestrians. Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking helps to prevent a collision with other vehicles and objects. Blind-Spot Monitoring helps to keep the driver aware of their surroundings. Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist helps drivers to keep moving straight ahead in a safe manner.
In addition to those standard safety features, there are a number of optional Advanced Safety Features. There is a 360° Surround-View Camera that's particularly helpful when backing up. There are also three separate Park-Assist Systems for the Chrysler Pacifica. One covers front parking while another helps with rear parking. Last of all, there's a system that assists with perpendicular and parallel parking.
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica offers solid performance and great steering dynamics. It has an extremely comfortable interior with a lot of modern amenities. Its three rows of seats offer plenty of room for passengers. The spacious interior can also be configured to haul large loads or bulky items. The Pacifica is an excellent choice for a family vehicle.
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Chrysler Pacifica invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)
Note: All Chrysler Pacifica MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
