Hyundai NEXO Overview:

The 2020 Hyundai Nexo transforms the automotive industry in terms of efficiency and digital technology. Under the hood, curious consumers won't find a propulsion system that burns any gasoline or diesel. Besides having an innovative hydrogen fuel cell powertrain, this all-new model boasts state-of-the-art digital technologies. Powered by the Hyundai SmartSense platform, the Remote Smart Parking Assist and Smart Cruise Control provide tremendous driving assistance.

Trim Levels

The 2020 Hyundai Nexo strives to be one of the world's most efficient SUVs. For a base trim, the Blue edition offers great value in efficiency, comfort and technology. Having five seats, this entry-level trim rolls on 17-inch wheels. An upgrade to the Limited edition comes with access to more premium amenities. Also featuring five seats, this high-level model is equipped with 19-inch wheels.

Interior Features

A heated driver's seat with an eight-way configuration is installed in the 2020 Hyundai Nexo. The front passenger's seat comes with a six-way design and heating. Ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel are only available in the Limited trim. Both models have automatic temperature control, an auto defogger and an external temperature display. Conveniently installed in the second row, a 110-volt power inverter charges large electronic items.

Digital Technology

A 12.3-inch touch screen is centered inside the 2020 Hyundai Nexo. A navigation system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is at the driver's fingertips. Made by Krell, the vehicle's eight-speaker sound system blasts awesome acoustics from HD Radio or SiriusXM Satellite Radio. This 440-watt audio system includes an 8-inch subwoofer and 8-channel digital amplifier. A USB charger and Qi wireless charging are accessible in the high-tech cabin.

This sophisticated Hyundai SUV comes standard with the Blue Link suite, which works well with the latest smartphones. With easy access to the Remote Package, the driver can keep an eye on the vehicle from anywhere. Diagnostics and other notifications are included in the Connected Care and Connected Car services. With some assistance from the Guidance Package, the driver will enjoy a smooth trip to any destination. Measuring 7.0 inches, the TFT LCD instrument cluster adds visual utility and styling to the cabin.

Dusk Blue, White Pearl, Copper Metallic and Cocoon Silver are some of the paint finishes that are optional for the 2020 Hyundai Nexo. A glossy black application enhances the exterior side mirrors. Both trims have puddle approach lights and LED headlights. Roof rails and a hands-free smart liftgate are exclusively installed in the Nexo Limited model.

Designed to prevent accidents with moving vehicles and people, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is standard in the 2020 Hyundai Nexo. When the speedometer exceeds 6 MPH, the Smart Cruise Control may be turned on by the driver. This radar-based technology includes the Stop and Go setting. Automatic braking is triggered by the FCA and SCC.

Drowsy, fatigued and careless driving behavior will be detected by the Driver Attention Warning. If necessary, the DAW generates loud chimes and flashing signals in the instrument cluster. This Hyundai SUV also offers the Lane Following Assist, which compares the motion of the wheels in relation to lane markings. With quick leverage from the Lane Keeping Assist, the driver may regain full control of the Nexo. Changing lanes is also facilitated by the Blind-Spot Collision Warning.

The Remote Smart Parking Assist is arguably the most sophisticated driving aide that's available in this hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Using the Smart Key, the driver could remotely maneuver the vehicle into a parallel parking space. The Surround View Monitor also shows real-time videos on the 12.3-inch infotainment display. When inside the cabin, the driver should pay attention to any alerts from the Rear Cross-Traffic Warning. This all-new SUV also has the High Beam Assist that quickly toggles between the high and low settings for the front headlights.

Standard on this efficient SUV, the anti-lock braking system is paired with the regenerative braking for optimum efficiency. This five-seat SUV also has 2.5-MPH bumpers and front crumple zones to prevent minor damage from collisions in parking lots. Families will surely appreciate the standard child safety locks on the rear doors.

Driving Experience / Driving Impressions

Generating up to 135 kW, a hydrogen fuel cell propels the 2020 Hyundai Nexo. Featuring up to 440 cells, the propulsion system attains a maximum efficiency of 60 percent. A lithium-ion polymer battery contributes up to 40 kW of total power. This powerful battery is rated at 240 volts and 1.56 kWh. Additionally, an electric motor generates up to 161 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of net torque.

The standard transmission system in this efficient Hyundai SUV operates on a single-speed reduction gear. A standard front-wheel drive (FWD) system seems like a great fit for this simple gearbox. With easy access to the Comfort, ECO Plus and ECO modes, the driver can truly customize the ride in this all-new model. Driven by the electric motor, the power steering system also gives the driver lots of leverage for normal and sporty handling.

Fuel Economy / MPG

Based on EPA projections, the 2020 Hyundai Nexo offers a maximum driving range of 380 miles. It only takes approximately 5 minutes to refill the vehicle's hydrogen cells to full capacity. When tested in the city, this compact SUV offers a fuel economy of 65 MPGe. Additionally, families will get up to 58 MPGe on the highway from this all-new model. Best of all, this innovative vehicle releases zero emissions into the atmosphere.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Hyundai NEXO

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Hyundai NEXO invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Hyundai NEXO MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
