How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Kia Seltos
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Kia Seltos invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)
Kia keeps developing new SUVs to stay competitive with drivers of all types. Last year, the compact Seltos made its debut. Despite having a few minor criticisms, this vehicle seems to be well-balanced overall. Buyers who are interested in a 2022 Kia Seltos can learn all about it by reading on.
What's New for 2022?
A brand-new Nightfall Edition trim level premiers for the 2022 Seltos. It blacks out the exterior and sits on exclusive 18-inch wheels. There are also several more advanced driver aids to be found on the standard equipment list, including automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and forward-collision warning. Driver attention monitoring is now found on all trim levels as well.
For the LX, S, and EX models of the Seltos, Kia goes with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that makes 146-horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. With that engine comes a continuously variable transmission that moves the SUV around smoothly. If buyers opt for either the Nightfall Edition or the SX, their Seltos will have a turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder. As a result, these models make 175-horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission.
The drivetrain situation is a bit unusual for the 2022 Seltos. The entry-level LX comes standard with all-wheel drive. So do the EX, Nightfall Edition, and SX. For whatever reason, the S comes equipped with front-wheel drive instead. It can be upgraded to an all-wheel drive as well.
If buyers opt for the front-wheel-drive S trim, the Seltos is estimated to get 29mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. Models with the base engine and all-wheel drive are estimated to get 27mpg city and 31mpg highway. The turbocharged option comes exclusively with all-wheel drive, and it can give drivers 25mpg city and 30mpg highway.
There are now a total of five trim levels for the Seltos. The LX is the first one up, and it comes equipped with tinted rear windows, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a single USB port. Option number two, the S, has LED daytime running lights and roof rails. EX models are the way to go for buyers who are after a sunroof, push-button start, and heated front seats.
On top of the turbocharged engine, the Nightfall Edition gives drivers a bolder look for their Seltos. The top SX model also has the more powerful engine, plus upgrades such as a premium sound system and full-LED headlights.
Each of the 2022 Seltos trim levels comes equipped with driver attention monitoring, which keeps track of driving behaviors and monitors for drowsy or distracted behavior at the wheel. Also standard across the board are driver aids like lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and forward collision mitigation.
Starting with the Seltos EX, buyers get blind-spot monitoring. The top SX model is the only one to come equipped with adaptive cruise control and a lane-keeping system. Select models can be upgraded to include highway drive assist and cyclist detection as well.
The Seltos LX is the only model to have an 8-inch touchscreen. All other models upgrade to a 10.25-inch one instead. No matter which model they choose, however, drivers will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Choose the S or higher and the Seltos also has satellite radio and navigation.
EX models get more convenience in the form of a wireless charging pad. While one USB port comes standard, most Seltos models add a second one. Other upgrades to look out for when shopping for a 2022 Seltos include an eight-speaker Bose system and a digital instrument panel.
The Seltos is technically a subcompact SUV. That said, it is surprisingly spacious for both passengers and gear. It is one of the few options in this segment of the market where adults can sit in the back comfortably. As far as cargo space goes, there are 26.6 cubic feet behind the second row of seats. Cargo capacity maxes out at a truly impressive 62.8 cubic feet with the backseat down. Not only does this make the Seltos more spacious than most subcompact options on the market, but it also beats several compact SUVs out there.
Buyers will find that the 2022 Seltos has more than space to offer in its cabin. The overall construction is solid, and most of the materials are upscale. Both of the rear seats can recline, which is a nice little upgrade. On the available feature list are things like heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and synthetic leather upholstery.
Overall, the 2022 Kia Seltos offers great value by loading a small package with today's hottest features. A test drive is the best way to discover if it is the right choice.
Note: All Kia Seltos MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
