What's New for the 2018 Mazda CX-3?
Mazda has bolstered the CX-3's safety equipment for 2018, with low-speed automatic emergency braking now included as standard across the lineup. New available features include a power-adjustable driver's seat and heated steering wheel. The CX-3 was already fun to drive, but you'll really love getting behind the wheel with the upgraded, retuned suspension for the new model year. Cabin noise has been damped with the introduction of insulated glass and other measures.
Trims and Features
The 2018 Mazda CX-3 boasts comfortable, supportive seats for up to five passengers, including three sets of LATCH connectors in the rear. Reviewers praise the subcompact's modern, cockpit-style design and lush, high-quality materials that call to mind a much more expensive vehicle. You'll have just over 12 cubic feet of cargo space, which can expand to more than 44 cubic feet.
The base model, designated as the Sport, comes with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system, and a rearview camera, in addition to the new low-speed automatic emergency braking system (a rare standard feature among rivals).
Upgrade to the Touring trim for high-quality faux leather upholstery, heated front seats, proximity key, and automatic climate control. This model also ups the safety ante with rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring systems; automatic headlights and windshield wipers are new on this model for 2018.
With the top of the line Grand Touring model, you'll enjoy comforts like real leather upholstery, a moonroof, an upgraded Bose sound system with seven speakers and satellite radio, navigation, and a dash-mounted driver information display which has been upgraded for the new model year with full color. You can also choose an active driver assistance package that includes high-speed automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.
Performance
No other subcompact SUV can match the 2018 Mazda CX-3 when it comes to performance and sheer athleticism. If you want a small crossover that's fun to drive, this is the one to beat. The CX-3 is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine and a six-speed automatic, a combination that offers 146 horses. Steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters are available for drivers who want additional control. Class-leading fuel economy is estimated at 29/34 city/highway miles per gallon with front-wheel drive or 27/32 if you choose an all-wheel-drive model.
Safety
The 2018 Mazda CX-3 has earned outstanding crash test scores, including a five-star overall rating from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration and Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety due to earning the top marks in every one of the agency's crash tests.
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Mazda CX-3 invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)
Note: All Mazda CX-3 MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
